The Who also played Substitute that night but it wasn't broadcast. I have the audio of that too. Part of it is here.

This is the first time I have seen this - I missed it at the time. I remember there was a lot of hoo-ha about the programme overrunning. Sounds like the backing vocals to 'Who Are You' were on a backing tape but it was a pretty good performance seeing that this was their first live outing since Live Aid.

in belated reply to Garadun Truesdale (5 years ago) "Does anyone know what kind of strings he's using to get that sound?" - they are called vocal chords, you can't buy them, and even if you could, his would by priceless.

Hi I run a page on Facebook called Rescued Recordings from the Glasgow Apollo, Our aim is to Collect and archive every known gig from that famous venue! I would love to get this recording and to get it out there to be shared!? We have over 100 Apollo shows so far, we could trade and you could pick a show of your choice. This sounds a great recording so hope you can get back to me! :)

Think The Who's decline in the 80s was more to do with Pete using a bloody Telecaster and writing AOR rubbish than Jones drumming.
