I did my own E46 sedan back in 2021, I've had to redo a few spots a few months ago due to rust but its held up pretty well. Highly recommend protecting it, also if your house water has minerals or if you park under a tree make sure to clean it well, the sun will bake it.

You should fix your seating position. Closer the wheel is to the center of your chest the more control you have. Not really an issue unless you are canyoning or get more power down the line where proper reactions matter.
