I can't tell if it's overly loud or if it's the sensitivity of the mic. I've had a 2014 E350 and now a 2016 E550, both being coupes, and sounded similar. I have a vid of mine. It's normal for a Mercedes direct injection to sound like that, almost like a diesel. But I don't recall mine being that loud.

I think that’s normal. My mom got an E350 coupe and it sounds similarly clattery. The dealer brought out other cars with the same engine so she could hear that they all sound like that. I hear that the M278 is a fail as far as Mercedes engines go. They tend to score cylinders. I’d drop it as soon as possible

It’s timing chain problem . I had lr4 5.0 , it’s known for its timing chain problems . I sold it and bought another one , and it doesn’t have that sound

dude i’m literally looking at the same two cars. the A7 and the CLA 45. i’m in the US and it’s hard to find good price for mileage. they want around $30K for around 60-70K miles
