Tell him not to book a Celebrity (my usual) cruise because they don't provide trays. I suspect Carnival did away with trays to cut down on food waste. I'll admit that as a solo cruiser, I wish I had a tray in the buffet because the doggone dining crew members are too efficient bussing the tables. So if I go back to get a dessert all my service and cloth napkin are gone when I get back to my table - if I don't have anyone guarding them. I'd like to be able to get all of my food items at once. That said, if the issue is some people being greedy and loading up even more with a tray, the I support the "no tray" policy.

The trays would be convenient, however they would have to be washed between uses because of something as simple as norovirus germs ect... If you have a problem with soup, DON'T FILL IT SO FULL!

LOL Only have been on a few cruises, and just recently, but NCL doesnt have trays that I know of? And I survived.. And honestly, I see much more issues with trays.. ESPECIALLY when you have a drink on it.. I can see SOOOO many spills with trays.. I wouldnt have them either.

In over 2 dozen cruises I have NEVER ever used a tray. I just pick up a plate and a bowel it I need it and just go through the lines.

While trays are a conveince for most of us, think of the few that overload them and contribute to excessive food waste.

My food guilty pleasure is the outdoor grill (assuming nice weather). Even if I've just had a full three-course lunch, it's hard for me to walk by and not get a hot dog/burger and fries when I smell those cooking. I'm particularly fond of the hot dogs with fixin's on the Celebrity ships. Other than that, I don't over indulge on food or drink. I've learned from experience and eating and/or drinking too much makes me feel uncomfortable and lethargic. That's not a feeling I enjoy.

Yep, plenty of other cruise lines to choose from. Dancing and singing in the MDR is a signature tradition for Carnival. It's been for decades. Clearly, most of the passengers enjoy it. I haven't been on a Carnival ship for years, but it didn't seem like the singing and dancing took up very much time.

So silly these complainers. It wouldn’t be a Carnival dining room if they took the singing and dancing away. I mean what about just going on stuffy old grumpy, high class snooty cruise line xxx for once and you’ll be satisfied, no singing or fun there. Just try that instead of trying to make Carnival change for no reason at all. Jeez. I don’t get it.

There's plenty of that.... on NCL . I didn't get any dancing from my servers on NCL. But then they didn't have Guy's Burgers either, so there's that.

One of the reasons we book Carnival IS BECAUSE of the fun in the dining room. We always get up with the wait staff and dance also. We have even been in "the parade " on a couple of cruises.

Working on a cruise ship is anything but "the best job". That's like saying, "why don't they hire more Americans to pick vegetables out in the fields?" The jobs and hours are grueling, the pay is very low, and they are away from their families for many months. The entertainers are a little better off because they get time off during the day and get paid higher. I'm very happy with the crew members because they have a strong work ethic and are very grateful to have those jobs.

Only true Service Animals should allowed on cruise ships. So in general, no dogs please.

Movies please. They have Sports Bars where you can watch Football.

Wanting to hire Americans doesn’t have to be rooted in anything bad. The financial concept of supporting the economy that you live in is very valid for economic reasons. This doesn’t have to be about pride. Simple economics. One can prefer that companies keep their spending within our home US economy without having ill feeling about foreign workers. :) No need to assume the worst.

I love America, and as an American, I say "America first", but my understanding, and I'm pretty sure I'm right about this, is that the VAST majority of Americans don't want to work 12+ hours a day, 7 days a week, and I don't blame them. I've encountered a few American musicians performing on board, but not many. And they're not working nearly as many hours. It's REALLY cool to meet people from all over the world. It's a huge part of the charm of a cruise to me. The crew members are always SO nice! I have some legit, lifelong friends now who were crew members on past cruises!

I can think of FEW things more boring than football... and the NFL is a dumpster fire.

I hate to say this, but American workers couldn't handle the hours and work on a cruise ships for the amount of pay.

The best part of cruising are the crew members from other countries. I was in the Air Force for 20 years and lived in at least 7 different countries. It is great when I meet one from one of the countries that I lived in. I see if they had been in one of the countries and we would talk about the local life there now. One of the guys that was from the Philippines was actually from a bout a 1/4 mile from where I had been living. It was great to catch up and find out that it had NOT changed all that much.

There is a reason why Pride of America has much higher cruise fares than much longer cruises.

Everyone wants to hire American crew until they have to pay for American crew.
