Thanks for just another helpful video from your side! Your FET videos helped me a lot. One question about the DH40 Thickness planer: Is it possible to insert timber which is grooved (90° cross feed direction) on the upside? I guess the licker-in and the feed roll are on the upside and the grooved side which I want to reduce thickness is also on the upside. Even if I would have to push it in manually would be okay to me. I just fear that the edges of the grooves might get disfigured...

Hello! Do You think that KS 230 could handle guitar neck fret slot cutting? Could you set the height of the blade to 3mm? Could it cut thicker wood (rosewood, ebony, etc.)? Thank you!
@bastian6173
@bastian6173 15 күн бұрын
You cannot adjust the height of the blade in this saw. Slot cutting is no problem but you have to come up with a sled like Harris to set the appropriate height. Hard wood is no problem for it. As long as your not pushing too hard / deep

The motor cooling air is exhausted directly into the blade housing. With nlwhere else to go, the exhaust air then travels straight down onto the workpiece, and blows sawdust all over the inside of the garage. The dust collection funnels and vaccum attachment port are merely a formality.

You abandoned the riving knife, right? It's a pity. The riving knife is like 1,1 milimeter and the 36 teeth blade is like 1,6 milimeter :( This way it cannot work. But seems with the feather board is quite safe

Was using such a machine in the garage this afternoon, and was inspired to check its alignment. The azimuth is easy to set up; just loosen the screws, slew the saw to 90°, and tighten the screws again. As for the "leaning" function, that requires a pair of 10mm wrenches, a mattress to kneel on (to keep the work at eye level), and no small supply of patience. Tedious, but manageable My one real "gripe" with this saw must be that hot air from the motor is exhausted into the blade housing, such that dust is blown absolutely everywhere, making it a very "dirty" tool, and generally unsuitable for indoor use for this reason.

I've got the cheapo Micro Mark MicroLux mini table saw with a fixed blade. I'd have to make a jig to cut grooves since I can't lower or raise the saw blade. I do like the sled you made. Works very well with precision cuts. I use my saw mostly for making HO scale lumber for my railroad. Cheers from eastern TN

Hi, Just bought the Proxxon Fet table saw and have been watching youtube for ideas on how to build a cross cut sled, yours looks to be one of the better sleds, just wondering if you have any plans for making it and also what size are the aluminium tracks and where did you buy them from, thanks in advance and keep up the good work, THANKS

I don't have any drawings, but you can find all measurements in the videos on the channel. The aluminum rails are curtain rails bought from the curtain shop JYSK, which is available in many countries (they are cheap and work well)

A great improvement to what is a flawed and seriously overpriced item - one would have thought that Proxxon would have addressed the shortcomings of the saw given all the negative reviews and feedback that are out there - or because they are purchased despite the inherent shortcomings, Proxxon turns a blind eye and just takes the money. I just purchased their hot wire cutter - which has , not surprisingly , a completely inadequate , poorly toleranced fence. The fence is intrinsic to the precision of an otherwise great product, but despite negative feedback over several years, has not been resolved. Proxxon should be ashamed - it is not the " German Engineering " they advertise.

Very nice work. I think it is mostly useful for grinding dust, drilling is not really a problem unless I drill a lot, and in that case I run the vac a few times during the work to clean the area. The chuck is a big problem for this machine. It's a crappy chuck made for impact hand drills, not for bench drill machines. I changed mine, and that upgrade is really necessary for this machine. During all the years after the change I never had any issues with the chuck, the drill bits never ever fell out in the middle of a drilling work and the runout is also much less now. Here is a video about how to change the chuck to a better one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHTUh6KXfLt-bsksi=keE4udXOp34wgY5U

Hello Harris, I did the same modification. Interestingly, for me the splitter only works on the right side. On the left side the wood lifts and leads to kickback. On the right side (almost) not. So I think I will just braze some thin sheet of brass or steel on the left side. I think .3 or max .5 mm should be sufficient. Luckily - so far no kickback happened. All the best, Bastian
@Harris-DIY
@Harris-DIY 7 ай бұрын
I think we misunderstand each other. When I say the left side of the saw blade, I mean the side that faces the side of the saw where the start button is located. Hope you find a solution.
@bastian6173
@bastian6173 7 ай бұрын
@@Harris-DIY yes - left side where the start button is. Strangely my splitter is tilted maybe 1 degree or so to the right. Enough that it only works on the right side and kickback happens on the left. Now - I have brazed 0.5mm brass on the left side of the splitter and 0.2mm brass on the right side. And I file it down a bit. Now the splitter is around 1.7mm thick. Just a bit more than the blade. I think it works fine now. But I will do some more tests. Splitter only works if it is marginally thicker than the saw blade - so far my experience at least. :)

Harris....did you make the riving knife for your saw or is that an original accessory with the saw? Thanks!
@Harris-DIY
@Harris-DIY 7 ай бұрын
It is homemade, it is the holder for an extra safety screen I had lying around and which I just sawed off the top, but it is thinner than the saw blade so it only works optimally if you use the side control on the left side.

@peterzafian5601 7 ай бұрын
@@Harris-DIY ....Thanks for the reply...Last night I actually came upon one of your videos of how you made that riving splitter. I email Micro-mark to see if I could just get a blade guard so I could make one like yours. Alternatively I was looking at buying a 12x12 sheet of aluminum (that are the same kerf as my carbide blade) and making my own riving knife.

@@Harris-DIY ...yup, always something else keeping us busy. I'm also going to try making an aluminum zero clearance I see for my micro-mark microlux. They (micro-mark) have the blade insert so far right of the blade that if one attempts to create a zero clearance insert from the plastic inserts they sell the blade almost cuts the whole way through the length of the insert which leads to a flimsy piece of plastic to the left of the blade. Looking at it now I should have bought the proxxon instead of the micro-mark tablesaw as the proxxon looks like it has a better fence system, more conventional blade insert, etc.
