When I was young all the men played fast pitch, only the older washed up players played slow pitch. But nowadays the young men, for all their talk, are a bunch of marshmallows who are afraid to look bad. Hitting is definitely hard against a good pitcher but in my generation that was a challenge. The modern youth don’t want to be challenged they just want to look good. I might add that my best friend was the younger brother of Kenny Rogers, the country singer. Kenny & his brother Randy both were pitchers who played fast pitch. Kenny struck me out a lot of times.

I knew a player in the early 70s who was one of the few players to beat the kind and his court. His name was Newman Ayers he was in the Air Force and this man could pitch past second base even further if he wanted to. The ball was coming at you at about 90 miles per hour. I was a dam good player and only got one hit off of him. If anybody knows this man or where he is could you leave a comment, or if you knew him let me know how he is doing. He was in Munich Germany during the 1972 Olympic Games.

In the early 70's, men's fastpitch was dominate with very little slow pitch played. It is amusing to me to hear the ladies say how weird it is to see men playing fastpitch. Unfortunately there is little men's fastpitch being played in our area (Northern Indiana) today but I am proud that the girls have continued one of the best games every played, FASTPITCH!!

Umm actually softball is much more challenging than baseball because first of all do you know how much harder it is to throw under hand than it is over hand and a 65 mile an hour pitch in softball is equivalent to a 90 mile an hour pitch in baseball and it officially titled the fastest game in the world sooo take that baseball oh and plus a softball is not soft

The reason I know this is because I coach Women's fastpitch with the ISF, teaching mostly European teams Olympic Development programs, and though never directly involved with coaching the US team, I was highly involved in the Women's "Majors" Division of fastpitch softball.

I faced Eddie Feigner in Missoula, MT as a member of the opposing all-stars. It was said he threw 115 once. In truth, he also threw about 85mph, 135kph, just like all the other top pitchers. I faced Peter Meredith, Ty Stofflet, Eddie Moore, Michael Pietnik, Darren Zack, etc. I did not face him but saw him, Michael White. They all threw about 85, none over 87. It is a legend, not fact! I hear the same for women pitchers who throw 90mph. The hardest throwers in the world throw 72-75mph.

Typically 80-85mph. The hardest thrower is Adam Folkard of Austrailia at 85mph, or 135kmh. That is from about 40 foot release point. The rubber is 46 feet away.

softball was invented by a man back in the 1800s. so are you saying that when men play softball it is homosexual? are you saying that it has something to do with guys having sex with eachother? it may look gay to you but for most people like me we enjoy it. softball is 10x faster then baseball and there is more action. to you its a girl sport but to me its a sport that is open to everyone, male or female.

No one gives a fuck about New Zealand softball. Nobody. Probably just the couple of idiots that posted on this video. If you celebrate making the semis of FIBA WC's, then you have issues.
