╬ R.I.P. ╬ 22.marts 1936 - 13.sept 2023 Lyrics: There's a ship lies rigged and ready in the harbor Tomorrow for old England she sails Far away from your land of endless sunshine To my land full of rainy skies and gales And I shall be aboard that ship tomorrow Though my heart is full of tears at this farewell For you are beautiful, and I have loved you dearly... More dearly than the spoken word can tell For you are beautiful, and I have loved you dearly More dearly than the spoken word can tell I heard there's a wicked war a-blazing And the taste of war I know so very well Even now I see the foreign flag a-raising Their guns on fire as we sail into Hell I have no fear of death, it brings no sorrow But how bitter will be this last farewell For you are beautiful, and I have loved you dearly More dearly than the spoken word can tell For you are beautiful, and I have loved you dearly More dearly than the spoken word can tell Though death and darkness gather all about me And my ship be torn apart upon the seas I shall smell again the fragrance of these islands In the heaving waves that brought me once to thee And should I return home safe again to England I shall watch the English mist roll through the dale For you are beautiful, and I have loved you dearly More dearly than the spoken word can tell For you are beautiful, and I have loved you dearly More dearly than the spoken word can tell. I remember hearing this song when I was with my ex. It would make me cry because I knew I was stuck in a loveless relationship. I've finally been blessed with a man who loves me unconditionally. Now when I cry hearing it, I know its because I'm truly happy! Thank you Alan, my Weirdo!❤

Remember this as one of the 11 songs on the jukebox at the west virginia bar and grill in Frederiksted St Croix back in 89. Between this and quiet riot, we had a good time on liberty :)

A blast to the past , times when everyone wasn't mental. I liked Gilbert at the time and ever since . Beautiful lyrics which constantly didnt collide with the expected. Now everyone is educationally stupid , void of anything with value.....a bit like empty hoover bags. That suck any old shit in. Lovely song ....nice singer and everything was so easy.

The irony of this song is this and I forgot to mention it before and I'm not going to go back to the same one I wrote but after the first time I convinced them to play it for 3 or is it four nights straight at a particular time that I knew she'd be listening and my friend got to hear her favorite song for all of those nights I still don't know which of my friends it was it could be the one that was Ill with cancer or it could be any one of the others that I called my friends even though we weren't particularly close. So when this friend whose name I do not recall it this time I don't know which one it was to be honest it's not that I had so many friends it's they were more like acquaintances than friends we didn't hang out together and that sort of thing but the fact that she called me up and asked if I could do her this favor meant that she thought I was friend enough that I would try to do that for her or she thought I was just playing lucky I'm not sure until this day I will never know but I remember how happy she was that she got to hear that songplay for his many nights as she did in fact when I did try to call for I think it was a 4th or 5th night the guy on the thing said well we got to give other songs a turn you know and I said yeah maybe you could play and I picked out a song for myself at the time and they said sure. I guess it was a very lucky person when it came to getting song request done.

Because a friend of mine called me up and she said I have been trying to get this song to play during late night request hour but I can never seem to get through I love this song and I think you'll love it too do you think you could try requesting it maybe you'll get luckier than I am, and I was very lucky because as it turns out she was right so I told them, "my friend says that this is a song that I will love but I've never heard it before." And so they played it for me and my friend got her wish to hear it again and many many many years later one of my kids asked what song I was listening to I told them the story about how I heard this song and why and then played it for them and now a new generation love this song.
