JFK gave the go ahead of various experiments on american citizens as well as disposing of "lessers " (metally deficient ) using the vietnam war by using them as undertrained cannon fodder. Him his brother and Mcnamara started many horrible programs and the amount of apologism for it is insane, LBJ was the one opposed to a lot of that on the other hand but had no choice but to continue with what JFK started due to various pressures including political , economic , social,etc.. If you want more information you can look at the disturbing rabbit hole that are Mcnamara's morons tho many sources try to omit kennedys role as much as possible due to how much power that family and their backers still have.

Something worth mentioning is that Cadaver from Show for Children is actually a character from another of Kris Straub's projects called Broodhollow. A webcomic series.

The Inquisition is fully redeemed, the vast majority of their work was holding corrupt landowners and money lenders accountable for their actions, very rarely did active torture happen and there are plenty of written accounts of the men of the Inquisition lamenting the way the men they were investigating had strayed so far from God, wanting only to return them to the faith, the image of the torture crazy hooded-robes Inquisition is very much an overexaggeration fabricated by modern media, much like the work of Poe explored in this video, they were an absolute net-gain for the Kingdoms of Spain

i normally dont comment, and i dont know if you're going to read this, but there is a connection between the eath/moon history and the chronos/saturn mythology. the moon was made by a rogue planet (which carried water, ie, the one thing that is needed for life) crashing into earth as it was being created. the debries resulting of that crash, eventually clumped together and formed the moon. now, the interpretation can technically go both ways, but I believe that the moon was chronos, trying to eat earth or destroy it, it carrying water and therefore being connected already to life, points to it, as well as it dying (by being destroyed, losing its life support aka water) as a direct result of the attack. earth very clearly is alive, while the moon isn't, however the idea that remnants of life, and its meaningful connection as a form of our creator, would leave room for a god or godlike figure surviving on the moon, as well as spreading life (as seen in the weird fuzzy things as well, however those could also just be the hallucination effects caught on camera, the same way that radiation distorts camera images). furthermore, as I believe a godlike/creator figure trying to harm us without us understanding why, points to the job story. [big tangent here: the deal between god and satan was added much later by people, and is not an original part of the story, BCS ppl were upset and confused why god would hurt someone, and added their own reasoning to the story... kinda defeating the whole books purpose, which without that beginning has a much stronger vibe of, (personal interpretation:) bad things also happen to good people, you should not waste your time questioning why, but find support in your friends and community. Anyway.] the moon, our creator, a father even, trying to kill us, is also in line with the madness and grief paintings, like the ivan painting. the moon, or the thing on it, does not know or understand why it is trying to hurt us, and it cannot distinguish between normal humans and the cultists (technically its direct children in a way). but in the madness of it, esp from the ivan painting, there is grief surrounding our planned destruction. but those are just some thoughts

I always assumed that in "Show For Children," the main character of the cartoon's name was pronounced with a French accent. So, instead of pronouncing it like the word: "cadaver," it would be pronounced "Cad-ave-ear" (with the "ave" pronounced like the word "have" without the H.) What's really weird about WHY I thought his name was pronounced like "Cad-ave-ear" is because I could've SWORN that in the title card of the cartoon at 20:00, "Cadavre" had an accent in his name like this: "Cadavré" It's a Mandela Effect!!!11 😱 (AKA: Human memory being unreliable, especially with small details because they're subject to change over time, since every time we remember something becomes an opportunity for our brains to subconsciously change a detail.) I'm guessing that due to Cadavre wearing a stereotypically French shirt & hat, that was my brain must've extrapolated that his French apperance must mean his name is pronounced with a French accent as well; so then my brain subconsciously added an accent on the "e" lol. Besides that, the line: "It's not necrophilia if you're already dead" Would be a FANTASTIC song title, especially for a My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, or (old school) Panic! At The Disco song. I mean, It'd make a great song title name for any band. I only mentioned those 3 bands because they're all well known for having long song titles in that style, for example: "You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison" (MCR) "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)" (FOB) "Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off" (PATD) (And funnily enough, the bands are listed in order of my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd favorite bands). Lmfao! 😂

Also, with all the talk about religion in this video, the cult using their children to commit the murders actually reminds me of a Bible verse, when Jesus said, "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea" Matthew 18:6.

another awesome video! I especially appreciated how sensitive and considerate you were about belief systems, especially Catholic beliefs. You asked for any clarification from Catholics in the comments, and the only piece I can think to offer is some of the wording around the intercession of saints. In the video, you said specifically that Catholics pray TO saints for their intercession, when the most theologically correct way of saying this would be that Catholics pray "FOR the intercession of saints" or "Pray WITH the saints." The only reason I point this out, which I'm sure sounds super nitpicky, but it changes the implication to praying TO the saints like they are God, which Catholics are not supposed to do. Still, I like that you specified that in the video!! You cover some really fascinating stuff and I can't wait to see more.
@NormansIndex

That's fair! And that was the implication I was trying to make, but I've found out that people will interpret some of the things I say differently than what I'm trying to convey. Belief systems are incredibly complex and can differ from region to region and person to person so navigating it can be tricky. I had a very surface level understanding of it, but wanted to make sure before saying anything to try and make any points. So I'm glad I wasn't too far off and hopefully it was done tastefully. I welcome this kind of stuff so thank you and I'm glad you liked the video!

It's so awesome to listen to you share your passion about Poe's work, I loved your takeaway from the story's meaning at the end. The Telltale Heart inspired a lot of my own (terrible) short horror writing as a kid, Poe is a huge inspiration to so many people and I don't see many video essays about his lesser known work, this was so refreshing!

18:31 it's the TV station's tuning frequency. You use a radio signal at a set frequency in the range of VHF/UHF (very high frequency/ultra high frequency) in order to transmit your broadcast, and the receiving end tunes to it to watch your broadcast. That's what a TV channel is in technical terms.

I’m going to be honest, I have never really gotten the “hype” around Local 58. In my opinion, it seems a little overrated. It was never really unsettling or scary to me. I get the story and what it implies beyond what is on screen, but the it just felt kind of, eh. If anything I was rather bored by it. It is refreshing to not be flashed by jump-scares or stretched faces every five seconds, but I feel that it relies too heavily on what the viewer interprets (Which can be a good thing) and rather than setting a cohesive, storyline or narrative. When I watched it, it just felt like a mishmash of different events that were somewhat tied to the event within the story. It’s just when I see something happen in local 58 I feel more, “oh cool that was spooky I guess”, and less of what others feel around the series. Don’t get me wrong, the idea of the moon or a celestial disaster that impacts the earth globally in such a way that Local 58 demonstrates is awesome, I’m just not a fan of the execution. I’m not saying it is not good, it is a great analog horror and definitely pioneer the genre. However, I just feel it’s a bit overrated, but that is just my opinion, I know a ton of people will disagree.
