Hey David, Here is a good cost-effective supplier of Satsuma trees. They have a large orchard here in Olanta, South Carolina. Bought 5 trees from them this year- 1 gals for $20- Great, low risk way for trial & error for your cousin in Arkansas--- google or go to: mckenzie-farms on the web. If you google, include SC in the search. Satsumas also do well in containers so, as long as they get enough sunlight they'll get the job done.

Well, that's good to know. My cousin asked me if they would grow in Arkansas and I told her I had no idea if they would grow in Arkansas.

I like them for lots of different reasons, but the biggest reason is because they can withstand temps down in the low teens. So they grow really well in SC.

I have an Owari Satsuma that I have had for 20 years. Seems to do the same thing. I have often wondered if it is because it bears so heavily when it does bear. I haven't had the nerve to thin out the fruit because you are right...They do taste good. I disolved a box of Epson salt in water and poured around the dripline of the tree. Helped to green it up a lot.

congratulations they will flower every year. i have some like yours and they flower every easter we in mexico call it easter lily. you can multiply it getting out . the big bulbs and planting them in another place in the garden or in pots. it is very touching
