I have no idea why you’re comparing it with D2 toughness. In a blade with equal geometry D2 would be a terrible choice. Unless it was CPM D2 I find straight D2 Terribly chippy steel.
@adoseofdrewАй бұрын
More about edge retention on comparison. To get D2 to the same level you’d need to temper it back so much that the benefits of D2 aren’t realized. CPM-D2 is different, and was what I was generally referring to. CPM-154 was the S35VN and Magnacut before those steels were around. Still a great all-around steel for the $ though! I like the CPM-154 much better than the 440C option. I have found BD1-N to be chippy also.

But new times shows new opportunities, so they going on to mass market. Also recommends you Poltava Dimon Tools, the leader of quality instrument sharpening supplies.They have no retail website or partners shops. I've been telling people on Facebook and Reddit that these compounds are really good for a while now, but unless it's gunny juice or Stroppy stuff or something expensive, nobody wants it. I use the light concentration because I was worried about the issues your having. Although occasionally, I do have a bit of straight oil come out before any mix does. The light is plenty concentrated for me and I don't use as much as you do.

This type of steel (the m4) is not technically a stainless steel. Do you find that this might be an issue or is the steel good enough that I shouldn’t worry about it even if I take it close to bodies of water?
@adoseofdrew2 ай бұрын
Salt water? I wouldn’t recommend it. Other bits depends on how much exposure. Damp and humid may be worse than having it in your pocket when you’re by the river. The cerakote coating protects all but the edge so your primary concern is losing edge to corrosion. So many variables make it difficult to accurately answer your question. The coating makes it more feasible for this knife versus an uncoated knife. Hope this helps! 👍🏼🙏🏼🖖🏻
@Banlara17022 ай бұрын
@@adoseofdrew Thanks for the help. How would you recommend I take care of this type of steel to avoid corrosion? Would rinsing with fresh water and drying it off help avoid any issues?

Since the substitution happens after the “z” I will continue to pronounce it the way it’s spelled and concatenated. Ray-zuhl is one way, Raz-uhl is another.
