I had some off spring with similar colouration but i was never able to breed them. I had 4 and they all died and never impregnated the females that i put with them.

I’ve had my best luck with green water breeding it seems the protein rich food also is an advantage I use beef hart chicken liver and brine shrimp on my females no flakes it sounds crazy I know but the protein is the key with livebearers it’s like a pre natal vitamin male on the other hand need nothing special

Wish i had a basement to make a fishroom, but not in cali. I'm currently in my daughters old bedroom. OH i thought that was a plant i was about to say how awesome it was that they sent some plant with the shrimp.

Thank I been breeding for over 30 years I actually have two fish rooms but soon will all be all in one I don’t do to many videos because I don’t have many show tanks and people always think it should look perfect but it’s a dirty job and most don’t realize that they think every tank should look perfect but if you need any tips on the cichlids lmk I got a few tricks for getting larger clutch’s .. I can tell you to skip the expensive food and buy the cheapest frozen shrimp form dollar general and some high protein like beef harts from Walmart in the meat section lmk if you would like a homemade frozen food recipe it will save you tons of money

@@mattfish1992 wow that is a lot of years of breeding. I did have a question on my last video that i got mixed answers to. If i put yellow labs, blood dragons, and blue dolphins in the same tank will they cross breed? i know they are hap mbuna and peacock so im hoping not but dont want to mix them if they will.
@mattfish19927 ай бұрын
@@GCaquatics I’ve never done the dolphin but yellows will breed with anything and the blood I could never get numbers out of I think it was the hybrid gene I never mixed any except the yellow with red zebra but I keep them lines intact and then play around in a separate tank
@GCaquatics7 ай бұрын
@@mattfish1992 Last time i bred i did do a mix of yellow lab and red zebra the babies to see waht id get, but right now i dont have room for all kinds of crazy stuff so i gotta be really specific with what i try and breed. I will just keep them separate, the yellow labs are not liking the tank they are in, i might have to bite the bullet and buy a bigger tank for them.

@@GCaquatics try some pvc pipe pieces from depo or lows I use the 2 1/2 inch I cut them to around 6 inches it gives them territory to defend I also feed 3 times a day when I want to promote breeding it lets them know there is plenty of food available for fry

They are not hybrids whatsoever, Polar blue convicts are nothing but short body (genetic spinal difformity) Honduran red points. They have absolutely no convict or blood parrot in them at all, and like all HRP and Amatitlania in general, they are quite possibly the easiest animal in any kingdom to breed
