It’s like he just plays a completely different tune than Mal and Angus, haha…

Maybe because hes playing bass and not guitar. LOL. I used to play guitar and went to bass. Holy hell in a shit basket. Totally different. I had to learn how to play with fingers instead of a pick. No problem there. Fairly simple. Takes abot 5 minutes. Well maybe a couple of days because i lied. I am in the minority of bassist because i think a pick soynds better and gives me moer options. Virtually impossible to palm mute with fingers. You cant play "ghost notes" either. Also you have to choke on the neck more to kill the top strings. But bass puritans actually think funk is good and slapping is good. Personally with rock and roll i think 8th notes sound really good to cover the guitars and on metal the same but dirty as fuck with distortion. For the record YYZ by Rush. I learned it in a day. Dont care for it. To much funk. Same with Geezer. Cliff Williams and Tom Arraya? Oh yeah. Same with any hair metal band. As for Gene Simmons? Oh yeah. And trained bassists call these people simple? Bass should be simple and not too technical. You add to the drums and guitar playing around the roots. Anyone that plays bass should play probably the simplist of ACDC. Shot Down in Flames. By the end of the solo your forearm is burning and ready for the chorus. But then you have a fill in before the chorus. Then in the outro you have to play the D octave and A octave and slide the A down in perfect time. And hit it again. That my friends is what a bassist does. Its harder to keep time as a bassist than it is as a guitarist.

You say there is a cut in this track between the intro and verse riff? I saw your comment under the BiB angus video

Am I the only who believes Angus had some chorus effect on his guitar tone in the Razor's Edge era? You can hear it in this video as well as the Razor's Edge album and many early 90's live recordings. Especially prominent in Are You Ready and Moneytalks. I simply CAN'T be the only one who hears this!

Look up his wireless unit. You can buy or build clones of it, and he also used it in the studio.
@Remco96187 Жыл бұрын
@@rocketpigrecords3719 I know his wireless units. They just provide a little more extra drive and compression. Doesn't really explain the chorus effect, in my opinion. Am I missing something?

@@Remco96187I think it was just the amp head/cab combinations of that album. I always felt they did a really good job taking the sound of the album on tour, which I figured always lied within thier amp choices

Interesting how different Angus and Malcolm's guitar tones are. Angus has heavy, distorted and thick sound, while Malcolm had a twangy, slightly overdriven sound. Pure magic when you put them together.
@meytecc8601 Жыл бұрын
What I find most interesting is how different they are rhythmically. That may be in fact their magic sauce. Angus is clearly pushing it here, he's a little ahead of the beat. Malcolm on the isolated track is laid back, almost slightly behind - a little like Bonham used to play drums. This combination may be the trick that makes their sound.
@JeffStrickland Жыл бұрын
Absolutley! That's the tension and drive in AC/DC's sound--Malcolm (Phil and Cliff too, really) laying back and Angus persisting to push forward. Incredible timing individually, and electrifying when combined.@@meytecc8601
