Call it a silly amount of repetition -- i.e. throw on a podcast, pick up the guitar (or fire up the keyboard / controller on low volume), and run through the motions until muscle memory takes over. Then, film the video (or, I should say, many failed attempts until one finally goes without a snag), upload it, aaaand then don't practice the thing again until some distant future live gig where you have to re-learn / practice it again from scratch, all the while swearing / laughing at yourself for making your own life more difficult than it ought to have been if you'd just decided to be a DJ instead, haha.

@@SharkOSix I know, I know... such a tough life I lead, haha. The Viking event was great! Fun juxtaposition between everyone being the absolute kindest sweetest people that were also fully kitted out for raiding and pillaging, hah. Was all kinds of fun to serenade 'em -- defs went over well! Much dancing.

Man, I'm addicted to this. Why is such a perfect piece so little known?
@Alyag4 ай бұрын
Hells yeah, that's incredible! <3 In a perfect world the music would speak for itself and find the right ears of its own accord, but in reality it's very challenging to be a 100% do-everything-yourself independent artist with a regular full-time job, and on top of everything else scrounge together the time and budget for marketing and promotion, so... it's a bit of an uphill climb, haha. If you feel inspired though, do feel free to share and spread the word, because every little bit helps! Haha. Seriously though, I can't thank you enough for listening and leaving such incredibly kind comments, Berkcan! Truly means the world to me.

Sooo good! Loving the sound of the Strat in these tunes! Also, how are so good at playing the launchpad?
@Alyag Жыл бұрын
Cheers, master Max Boost! Thank youse muchly as always! I’m defs glad to have a Strat again, ‘spesh with the stacked Seymour Duncan pickups for ALL of the tonal versatility! Also the maple neck to help see the fretboard in dark club show settings, hah - that was always a struggle. As for the Launchpad… tedious practice, haha. I find having it at an angle helps tremendously, along with the fretboard-esque layout of the scale mode.

Love you sound! Is the main motive a nod to Trashed, Lost and Strungout by Children of Bodom?
@Alyag Жыл бұрын
Ayyy thank you so much! And, hah, I've been getting that a fair amount. Alexi's been a massive influence of mine for decades, and it's hardly a surprise that some similar melodic riffage has poked through in my own playing at some point. The main motif was actually based around the chords used in the original version of this track*, just broken down and arpeggiated... which coincidentally sounds similar to the Trashed riff -- something I'd realized only after I'd mapped out the lead parts in MIDI and only then transcribed to the guitar. Ultimately I'd decided to keep it as is, especially since the news of Alexi's passing came right in the middle of my working on this tune... so in a way it almost felt appropriate to, as you'd said, make it a bit of a nod to CoB. So, long story long... um, kinda? Haha. *If you wanna learn more about the history of how this tune came about, I get into that in this video (right down to the aforementioned chord progression): kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpKVf5-pj5yHb8k I'd also made a bunch of other content for this tune, such as downloadable guitar tabs, the above making-of video, a written back-story, and downloadable alternate demo versions (some dating back to 2012) which'll never be released anywhere. If you're curious to check 'em out, I humbly invite you to do so via this link: alyag.net/eskinvite/ Thanks again for listening and leaving such a kindly worded comment!
@EckhardKain Жыл бұрын
@@Alyag Oh wow, thanks for taking the time to go into that much detail. It's something that happens naturally, I think it's great if influences show and Alexi truely left a mark on a whole generation of guitar players out there. Such a shame. Thanks for the links I'll make sure to check them out! \m/
