Thanks for the video. Their is nothing better than eating your own veggies. I worked in a large grocery store in my area. Thousands shopped there thinking all so fresh. But they didn’t know of all the chemicals, waxes, pesticides and food coloring added to this food that they in-turn eat. Yuk. Grow it yourself for best healthy life.

If you suspend your compressor from string or bits of bungee straps, your shed will be a little quieter, if that matters to you. I saw 1 guy suspend his with galvanized S-hooks, so even that will dampen vibration.

You should never have it so wet that liquid comes out. I have five bins and never have liquid. The wetter the harder to remove the castings.

I have one of these, does the PPM have to be calibrated? I see it has a calibration screw but it doesn't seem to do anything
@williamccjr
@williamccjr 8 жыл бұрын
+Matt Willis Based on other Tri-Meters, yes, you should be able to calibrate the PPM. You have to use a 1000PPM calibration solution, then calibrate it essentially the same way you do for PH.

did you pay for the plans that you used to make your plans? its ridiculous that you arent sharing your knowledge with others.
@cjflyer

Jeremiah, The camper is straight out of my own mind. My plans are all scratch notes and measurements written on various scraps of paper. I basically took many different concepts from other campers and blended them into something we wanted that fit our needs. That's kind of the way I do things. We are very busy with starting a market farm right now and unfortunately we have no time to camp let alone draw up detailed plans of the camper to sell and distribute. I wish I could. Perhaps in the future we will find a way to get it done. Thanks for looking at the vid! She's a great little camper!

PS: I installed a 24-hour timer on my dutch-bucket system. It can be programmed every 15 minutes. During peak hours, the pump runs continuously, but late in the day and early in the morning, it cycles on/off every 15 minutes. Seems to allow more oxygen to be drawn down into the perlite. Also, I switched over to a 12-volt pump (example ebay: 380904580864). Uses a mere 3 watts, produces less heat...the output will amaze you! For 3 tomato plants and 4 cucumber plants, I go through at least 45 gallons of top-off water each week.

Tomato blight resides in the soil...no soil = no blight. With that said, it might be worth disinfecting the pea gravel before using, since at some point in time the gravel was in the dirt. Nice greenhouse!

How long does these probes last ?
@cjflyer
@cjflyer 9 жыл бұрын
Not a stupid question. The unit lasted all season (4 months or more) without issue. I disassembled the hydroponics since we moved to another property so I cannot speak to longevity or reliability over a longer time frame. I am in process of rebuilding an aquaponics system and I plan to use this unit again. I will let you know if it remains functional. *** Jago, please refrain from editorial comments on my videos unless asked otherwise. Finally someone who gets the size right.. I agree the teardrop is just too small and the ones that are not are not that attractive. Perhaps you did a build video? or can give the dimensions.. I love the loo.. great thing.. what about heat?

+alfriedar Unfortunately I did not do a build video but I did take quite a few pics through out the process. We are in the process of starting up a market farm so my time is dedicated completely to that for now but perhaps this winter I will have some plans and pics available. Thanks!

All right. This is good info. I never thought of trying to attract bees by just feeding them. Thanks for the instructions, I would not have thought to boil the water, but it has to help dissolve the sugar and sanitize the water, and get rid of a bit of chlorine? Thank you.
@cjflyer
@cjflyer 11 жыл бұрын
Formula is just a one to one ratio of sugar to water. Boil water, add sugar, turn off heat and stir. Cool off and add to your bee feeder of choice.
@cjflyer
@cjflyer 11 жыл бұрын
Not really. Not many flowers or plants needing pollinated right now. We have already had a light frost or two. I am getting ready to build and keep a couple of hives starting next spring and wanted to start to get to know bees. I decided what better way to bring them in close but to feed them. I get to see them up close and they get a little boost for their winter stores.
