Hi Johnny sadly u tube doesn’t let one send photos so as promised here’s another poem about Latchford locks around when I was 6 or 7 . Visits to Warrington Visits now were only to Grandma other Now a Bonny baby arrived ,I had a little brother . Mum in motor bike side car , with Alan all a bundled, Me like a rear gunner on pillion crumpled , Hanging on to Dads raincoat, and upon reflection All disgruntled with no helmets for protection Warrington was then overrun withUSAF GIs At Burtonwood their presence could not be disguised. Very smart in uniform and chewing gum , Surprised to see them one by one Black soldiers queuing along with whites. To catch the same bus seemed ok and right Mum and I were walking beside the ship canal , Watching as US troops all in full gear All quiet ,probably scared and in fear Troop ships in Latchford locks were moored , Taking these soldiers to fight the Korean War In full kit their khaki skull caps at a angle jaunty Could I get a hat like that , perhaps if good but not naughty ! Thanks for your videos on Warrington . I was born in there in 1942 and both my paternal and maternal grandmothers lived in Slater Street and Belmont Ave , and have many memories visiting the town , as my family moved to Crewe during the war , as my Dad was transferred to Rolls Royce to build aero engines ! I live in New Zealand now and at the behest of one my granddaughters here , thought I’d fought in the Vietnam War ,,as she had to write an essay on the war for school.I did tell her I would be around 13 when that event started ! Anyhow it gave me the idea of writing down about visiting Warrington and growing up in Crewe . Here is one effort about Latchford swing bridge when I must have been about aged five or so , and A Bridged to Far On the Manchester ship canal then A series of swing bridges ,when A basket went up, and traffic stopped at gate. The bridge mechanically swung to facilatate For a foreign ship to pursue And allow safe passage through We were once I remember clear Allowed to stand whilst bridge was in gear And oranges were thrown from the ship below To catch and take to Belmont Ave A treasure to bestow We waved our thanks to those men in uniform As fresh fruit was scarce , rationing was the norm And not forgetting the bridge man there We gave him an orange ‘‘twas only fair

My home town. Left Latchford (aka “LA”) in 1980. Only been back a few times. Love those gates. Always a great sight on Walking Day.

It’s 2 pubs, a church and a canal. It’s nice but that’s about all there is. Ram’s Head is better than the Parr Arms.

This an absolutely sensational discovery, a hidden genius. His sense of image, composition and above all drawing, that is his use of line, is pure genius.❤ At the same time I am enraged😡 This is absolutely freaking typical of this freaking country. We DON'T RECOGNIZE AND REWARD TALENT. In any other country his work would be on the walls of schools hospitals public buildings and all over the National Gallery. Here's a genius in our midst, but this being Britain ... he is ignored 😡😠🤬☠🤯

Now compost toilet is more environment friendly, use sawdust or shredded straw or leaves to cover up then it’s smell and fly free and composted into fertilizer for gardens.
