What have your guiding results been like with your HEQ5?

Sorry. I only do unguided EAA so don't have guiding results. That being said - there are plenty of people who do use guiding with the HEQ5 Pro. If you search Cloudy Nights forums, ZWO Forums and the ZWO Facebook groups for the ASIAIR there's bound to be some people who guide with the HEQ5 Pro.

Very good workflow. You tried to sync at first close to the celestial pole in Preview and ASIAir gave an error saying it’s too close to the pole but after you finished PA and slewed home with the mount command you were able to sync the mount within the mount controls. I didn’t know that command existed in the mount control section. With the HEQ5 have you experienced any crazy slews where the ASIAir GoTo can’t find a target? I have a C8 on an AVX mount and my ASIAir Plus 256 generates mount disconnect errors and manual DEC slews don’t stop when lift my finger off the direction icon. It stops 5 sec later. Does the HEQ5 have any weird interactions with you ASIAir Plus?

I've never had any weird interactions after setting up this way.

If you take three sets of bias frames which one do you add to your target set? Can you add all three? I"m trying to understand how this gets to be a dark flat/Flat dark to work with my 294

You can only choose one Bias frame. However - what I showed was using the Bias section but making sure to adjust the settings of my Bias frame so that it acts as a Flat Dark/Dark Flat rather than a traditional Bias frame (because traditional bias frames are no good for the ASI294MC/ASI294MC Pro camera.

I do everything exactly like the video says to but when I go to shoot a target I get a message that says my flats and lights are different sizes and will only let me shoot with the darks and bias. I use a 294mc on a Celestron 8se set.

Just to check are you shooting your Lights in Live Mode like I show in the video? If you take your Flats in Live Mode I don't think you can use those flats in any other mode (such as Autorun) and vice versa. Also: 1. Make sure you take your Flat frame with the same gain you intend to shoot your Lights. 2. Make sure you take your Flat frame in Live Mode on the night but before you take your Lights. 3. You need to make sure you are in focus (i.e. you will want to setup, get your rough daytime focus, then better night time focus, then polar align, then refine your focus) BEFORE you take your Flat frame. 4. Make sure your camera is set to the same temperature - and has stabilised to that temperature - that you will be use for your Lights. e.g. for me my camera is cooled to 0°C.

This is a really good video - now if there were a spoken commentary I could print the transcript!😂 Just watched it again slowed to 50% so my aging brain can take it in. Thanks again.

Thank you. Yeah, I had thought about spoken commentary, but wanted to make these videos something you could play while potentially around others - so just went with the silent approach (accepting the limitations it comes with).

when selecting your flats, darks, and bias frames do they all have to match in terms of the exposure times? for example.. if i choose a 10 second flat do I also have to choose a 10 second dark and 10 second bias?
@EducationwithMrH-ym9ri
@EducationwithMrH-ym9ri 4 ай бұрын
It's important to match camera gain and temperature. Your Dark needs to match your Light frame for exposure time, gain and temperature of camera. Your Bias - if doing traditional Bias frame - is the shortest exposure time for the most you can stack (20 or 50). It matches your Light frame for camera gain and temperature. Your Flat is just the exposure time that gives you the correct AVG ADU at a stack of 20 or 50. It matches your Light frame for camera gain and temperature. A Dark Flat/Flat Dark is just a Dark frame that matches your Flat frame for exposure time and stack (20 or 50). I don't use Bias frame with my camera (ASI294MC Pro) so I change my Bias settings so they are actually Dark Flat/Flat Dark. Again - done at same camera gain and temperature.

one point in the video it stated "make a note of the IP address" but then never specified why or if it was used elsewhere?

correct as always no different than other devices. I think the android emulation does not see network on LAN it wanted wifi, I put my antenna in window and it could see the air wifi outside and was able to connect from there I changed to IP address and it did work@@VikramHarinath

Perfect! I always set subtitles ON, for movies anyway. And like most tutorials, one should not expect to see it only once. Multiple reviews while taking notes is the order of the day... (retired teacher here) Thanks for putting in the edit time to produce this. NOW... to go promote it on Cloudy Nights. Cheers

Maybe add a spoken commentary?
@EducationwithMrH-ym9ri
@EducationwithMrH-ym9ri 6 ай бұрын
It's actually a choice I've decided to go with to not add any spoken commentary or background sound/music. I wanted to make it possible to watch videos even if you're at a camp site or astro party etc so it doesn't disturb others and you don't have to wear headphones, etc etc. Also - my voice is just horrible on my quite old headset microphone. I would need to buy an external microphone.

Apologies. I did think about having longer time for the text - but the video already goes for quite a long time. I just assumed people would just pause the video at the points they needed. That being said - I am trying to continually improve and do need to work on my editing skills. So will make a note of that for any future videos.
