Thats the point in playing these games. The bretonnian lists basic infantry are WS and L that are the same as the Gobbos, the real advantage is if they brake the knights dont care, they get a few useful rules to bolster them and if you take a Sgt at arms you can boost them a bit

Another thing about the Skirmish Line : Simply divide THE UNIT by 6 or 8 to give the number of 2D6 rolls. Any remaining less than 6/8 roll only 1D6. A Skirmish line is an entire unit. You don't have to divide the unit in blocks like you have done. You lost dice to roll. I notided that on your last battle. You reduce the effectiveness of your skirmish line.
@DReav7269 Жыл бұрын
Did not know that. Thanks. I will remember for next time.

@@DReav7269 You were so lucky on the 1st turn with your Skirmishers. 4 casualties. I will give you another rule : a Double six with Skirmishers is 1 extra casualty ... 😂 Never seen this before 🤟
@DReav7269 Жыл бұрын
@@ericcalmels33 hence my reaction after the skirmish firing. I well and truly won the fire fight there. My Jägers are normally typically Russian with their shooting, 1 casualty caused per round of shooting when in skirmish formation is about average.
@ericcalmels33 Жыл бұрын
Great Battle. Not easy to find GdB battle report. Many thanks for your video. Hope another one yet. 2 hours of pleasure. When you make your test to Charge Home ( 1:14:00 ) you need to roll for each battalion. You donnot have to take only the best result. You are wrong here. When you roll for Melee, you roll for each battalion and you take the best result for the Melee Results. That's what you have done. You are right here. Melee Casualties ( 1:17:45 ) : you have 63 figs and Winning Infantry vs Pushed Back is 1 per 8 so you have done 63/8 = 7 casualties not 4. I think you are wrong here. What do you think about this ?
@DReav7269 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Charge home roll you are correct, I'm going to go with me mis-reading the book. It happens I'm only human. I will remember this for next time. Hopefully. On the casualties......yeah, mental math failed there. On using a calculator I have confirmed 63/8 = 7.8 So yes 7 casualties not 4. Which would have crippled the veteran Swiss Bn. Thank you for your time and your comment.

Considering that the forces were relatively equal, the French couldn't expect to achieve much more than they did. The Russian cavalry can't drive off the squares, so they will eventually have to withdraw beyond the French musket range. The French might then advance slowly, two battalions in square at a time, leapfrogging, and moving two units up and leaving two in square, and alternating until they slowly drive the Russian cavalry off the battlefield. The commanders learned the importance of combined arms and having a battery with them. A nice sized game for two players. Overall, I would call it a draw.
@DReav7269 Жыл бұрын
Agreed and a good analysis of the situation. The historical outcome was that the French rolled over the Russians after a firefight, hence the scenario name, the French infantry possibly being more aggressive and pinning down the Russian Jagers. Guns were not mentioned as part of the original fight, hence why they don't feature. The only real advantage the Russians have here is a bonus to morale to represent them driving the French away the previous day. I think my opponent did well, a solid constant drive pushing my Jägers back.

28:20 - Why do you combine your 2 batteries to fire into the village ( 3 * 12pdr + 2 * 6pdr ). Is it a special rule ?
@DReav72692 жыл бұрын
It's because you can only engage a target once. So concentration of fire has to be done. At least that's my understanding of the shooting rules
@ericcalmels332 жыл бұрын
I donnot find that you can only engage a target once. Units fire once per move but there is no restriction to make multiple attacks on one target. In Deluxe edition, for Multiple Attacks on One Target, you must designate which units are firing at a paricular target at any one time before resolving firing. So you cannot await the result and then fire with further units ... Better
