"10538" was originally supposed to be the 'B' side of The Move's "When Alice Comes Back To The Farm" single, it was recorded in July 1970. Roy Wood added several cello over dubs to it after the rest of the band went home for the night. When Jeff heard it the next day, he declared that was the sound of ELO, Jeff renamed it "10538 Overture" and the first ELO song was created. Another Jeff Lynne song "What" replaced "10538" as the 'B' side of When Alice.....
