I don’t necessarily disagree about these tips making you look more “polished” or “expensive” but that’s not the same as being an icon. We also remember the Debbie Harrys, Stevie Nickses, Diana Rosses, Joan Jetts, Lisa Bonets, and Chers and they broke or ignored a lot of these rules, and didn’t go for “classic” but I wouldn’t say any of them look cheap. The way to be an icon is to be yourself and wear it proudly.

@@simplyhomeandhealthWhat about ecological considerations? By the way, have you seen the current market of fashion brands for working women? It is DREADFULL! I'm not able to find a brand that sells full suits with matching shirts that fit anywhere. The brands make clothing with armholes way too big. There is no shoestring anything. You can't be a functioning working woman if you're starting out poor, or from a poor region.
@simplyhomeandhealth29 күн бұрын
@@JennaHasm interesting point! I've never had to buy a full suit, brand new, for work, but I do know of companies in Australia and new Zealand that do good corporate wear...but they are really expensive!!! And if you don't live in a country where there are good thrift shops, then it is difficult to find the well- made stuff on a bargain. I'd be interested to know what you do in this circumstance!

We do our haircuts at home as well. A great money saver, for sure. My husband lets me cut his hair and I think that I have gotten really good at cutting his hair. I like his hair short, not shaved, so I use sharp hair shears and a comb for most of his haircut, then I use the clippers with attachments for his beard, and also to do his neckline. My hair is about elbow length and quite full. So I get caped, my hair combed outs, he sections it just behind my ear on each side, then he pins my hair up with clips. He starts at the nape, letting down increments of my hair, trimming it is manageable amounts, then he lets down another section to match the guide of the previously trimmed lower section. He cuts my hair when it dry after washing it. The ponytail methods cause uneven cuts as the blades of the shears push the hair before they cut. The way he learned was that you need to section the hair and cut manageable amounts. He does a great job every time. He loves my hair long as much as I do, so I don’t have to worry about a scissor happy stylist chopping off 8” or more when I want an inch off my ends. I enjoy the bonding time with my husband, I enjoy cutting his hair, and I love how gentle and meticulous he is when he trims my hair. It is convenient and we save a lot of money.
