Thank you for the clear replacement video. Just a curiosity question: When disconnecting a battery from the electrical system, you should disconnect positive terminal. Would this not eliminate the possibility of any module residual power when working on any electrical device. Thanks again, for the clear and to the point replacement video.. Peace, T

I have rescued friends, and myself, who have side post terminals. I now have a battery with both side and top terminals, and would like to know the best way to adapt and upgrade my current battery cables w/side connectors to connect to both terminals simultaneously, without unnecessary destruction or alteration of the GM factory battery cable connections. This is so that I will not need to tinker with my battery connections as much, especially in the winter. Thanks in advance.

I know this is an older video, but for anyone watching now or in the future. I recommend the fan attachment, or just a regular old box fan on low will help move the warmness around better. Have had mine for two years in my old drafty garage and it keeps me warm for hours on end.

In the manual it shows it necessary to add a sediment trap and an on/off valve but i assume its for safety and then the other is for longevity but does that regulater have a little trap built in?
@baldeaglegarage
@baldeaglegarage Ай бұрын
I’m sure that’s for natural gas. This regulator is for propane, it would be similar setup to a grill.

Can I take out the ECM on a Z28 5.7L without disconnecting the battery cables? I’m not fully removing it just enough to see the service tag to know what Bin file I need to download for diagnostics.
@baldeaglegarage

i wouldn't risk it. Removing the negative battery cable is a very minor task.

@ Well that was a month ago and I did it. It was completely fine to just unbolt two bolts and undo two screws and I just flipped up the side of the whole thing up ontop the side of the car. Snagged and bagged the service tag which actually had two tags since it was updated at some point within a few years after the first owner had it. For some reason the little hole they put there to see the tags wasn’t viewable unless you moved it to a certain angle unbolted. Found out my car started with 16188051 then was updated to 16209991. And yes this did actually allow me to collect live data through the ECM to know what’s going on with the LT1. I got 86 trouble codes, one of them code 11 which is goofy. I’m really considering getting a Detroit Iron repair manual to know what some of these codes are better, the Haynes only goes so far before saying go to a dealership or mechanic.

@baldeaglegarage
@baldeaglegarage 3 ай бұрын
Its not a difficult task man. I did it the way I prefer. Put everything at a comfortable work height with plenty of light. Gets me better results as well. Why work all twisted in the drivers seat, and soldering creating burn risk when you don't have to? Besides the video is also showing how to remove and replace the entire shifter, and how to remove interior parts. Lots can be learned here.

haha yeah the meaning of WS6 creates a firestorm. But it is just a rpo code. It doesn't mean wide suspension or 6 pieces. Both of us trading knowledge about other gens of the Firebirds. This 'bystander' is Tony and the 'camera guy' me; became friends after this conversation, we hung out again this year at FF24 and cruised the back roads in IA and MO together. Tony is a really cool guy, very talkative and exciting type of person. I can guarantee he didn't feel I was being a douche to him. We had at least a 30 minute convo here, I just edited a lot of it out. He was explaining his interpretation of WS4 thinking it was wide suspension 4 pieces, but its not, on 3rd gen WS4 means Trans Am. I hope your day gets better, sorry that I offended you.
