Wonder when you Wander Don't Wander when you Wonder I have a project that I wonder about and I'll try not to wander Say helllo John and get others to say it Then they'll have to ask themselves why am I saying helllo John Then they'll have to give his music a spin and find out what we already know An astonishing contribution to musical history, his very own I want this to happen while Cale's still alive I am the You Tube Cube With Teeth and I say let's go viral with teeth Long Live John Cale !

I love this song. The driving, incessant beat, the '80s motif, Cale channels Joy Division here. Brilliant.

Funny you say that. James Murphy was trying to write something with the same drive as Transmission by JD, something repetitive that starts small and ends big.

I need to disagree here. Buckleys version of Hallelujah is to whiny in my opinion. The ultimate version has to be John Cale´s.

@kingoftheseamusic As a fan of both, I don't hear it. Obviously Cale and Curtis both have powerful, lower-register voices but the music is totally a different flavor.

James Murphy actually plays bass on this cover version. Other musicians are: Michael Jerome Moore (drums and percussions), Dave Levitta (guitar) and John Cale (vocals, rhythm guitar, viola, keyboards, sampler).

@Family Guts Peter Griffith Murphy even asked Cale to cover this song. What an honour it must have been for James to have such a legend doing your song and being able to collaborate with him.

I don't think so... If you want to do an LCD Soundsystem cover you basically have _one job:_ get someone who sings better than Murphy to sing your cover. Murphy is a genius in a number of ways but he's not particularly great at singing. He can convey emotion with his singing like few can, don't get me wrong, but just like Jeff Mangum, he doesn't have a crystalline voice with enormous range. Without a better singer than Murphy, you have no excuse for a cover.
@mikehoffler40976 жыл бұрын
I prefer this version to the original, which I like. Cale's eerie arrangements and vocals, I don't know, there's more pathos to it.
@ForARide3 жыл бұрын
@@KauanRMKlein Bollocks! Covering doesn't mean you don't have to sing it better, which is a subject matter anyway. A good cover is making the song your own, by either playing it in a different musical style/genre, or rearranging it. And Cale does a pretty good job of this.

A note to Warren: Yes, that's it: it's gentle because it's resigned. It's discordant or disturbing because of what the singer is resigned to: Sexlessness and life of solitude. I really love this song and very much like the images, as well.
