Hi Tom, I bought a Rush 1 in the summer and I am very pleased with the performance. I bought a cockpit cover last week to keep the now cold water out. I’m having real trouble getting the cover - it doesn’t seem quite wide enough. The cover on your boat looks OK so I must be doing something wrong.

@@paulcarter8215 Hi Paul, I'm so happy to hear you like how Rush performs. It became my main kayak and I now claim with full confidence it's the best inflatable out there. For the cockpit cover try this if you haven't already: first attach front and rear, then work your way on each side. It requires some force when you're attaching the second side but it's always been fine for me. Make sure spreader bars are in their correct spots (they're marked A-B for front/rear and L-R for left/right). Front/rear and then sides has been the easiest way for me. I've never told them what I'd like their higher performing kayak to be like but they guessed it almost completely, even in terms of this combination of yellow and black. I only didn't expect the DS detail to run all the way along the side chambers (I was imagining a design closer to Nortik Argo in terms of shape - so, longer details than in Rush2 but not going all the way through), and I was betting for length of 427cm - this is 14 feet, which is a very popular touring kayak length in the hardshell world. BTW, when Seashine was released in April 2024, Gumotex's product manager told me "In the summer we will start developing a new touring kayak with a V-entry hull, a new Framura". I promised to keep it secret. 😅

Right now, at the time of writing this reply, I've been loaned an x500 v3 directly from Itiwit for a long term test. I will see if things have improved. Otherwise, I'd suggest to either go for a Gumotex Rush 1 (slightly lower performance but top durability - it's my main kayak now) or, if you want to stay with Itiwit, maybe it's a good idea to wait for an upcoming x900 kayak. It should be released at some point next year.

Hi, i saw in your videos that with gumotex and others you use wing Paddles (braca), how are them vs high angle flat Paddles? Considering them not only for competition but also for training and tourism. Thanks in advance for the help!
@LetsGoPaddling5 ай бұрын
Hiya, There was a time when I used wing paddles exclusively. I have 3 in total: Epic Small Mid Wing and 2x Brača VII 725 (one of them in Poland). The first one was Epic and it was chosen after a long and thorough research to match my paddling aspirations. I originally wanted to paddle for fitness to get healthier and stronger. For fast and energetic paddling forward, wing paddles are the best. They're not really designed for maneuvering, what I show in these overviews is not easy to do with them. If you're considering a wing paddle for training/fitness and trips that wouldn't involve too much maneuvering, I say "Go ahead and grab one!". A very important thing to remember - you need to commit to sprint technique. Otherwise, they will destroy your shoulders in the long run. I hope this helps you decide. In case you have any more questions, please, don't hesitate to ask. If I know the answer, I'll for sure share my experience. 👍

@@LetsGoPaddling Hi, Thank you for your help!! I have another questions… I’m 1.86 cm tall and usually I use kayak with widht like yours, which lenght do you suggest? I saw that all your Paddles have a surface area about 720cm^2, how do you get on with this size? Here in italy is difficult to find braca Paddles and they are too expensive for the first wing paddle, can you tell me how do you feel with epic paddle? How are wing Paddles with a large gumotex? I’ve the gumotex seawave. Thanks again for your advice Have a nice day
@LetsGoPaddling4 ай бұрын
Epic has a much softer catch and it is more forgiving so it was a great starter paddle for me. It is very similar to Brača IV in terms of shape. I originally wanted a Brača IV but after speaking with Ivan Lawler (he is the only distributor of these 2 brands in the UK), he advised to go for an Epic instead. My Brača VII is 725cm2, while Epic Small Mid Wing (the smallest possible) is 735cm2. I am only 162cm tall and was very weak when I started kayaking. I took larger blades intentionally - I wanted to build my strength over time to be able to use them properly. Now I have enough core strength to move them through the water with correct motion, just not with a high, athletic cadence - I'm not an athlete and will probably never be. It will be very difficult to suggest a correct paddle length. It is always an individual thing and there are so many variables - the boat's beam width, your height, the height of your seat, your technique, and probably a few more... It will definitely have to be longer than the range I use (210-215cm), and with Seawave, it might be similar to what I've shown in this vid, perhaps anywhere between 220cm and 230cm. Have a look at Epic's Paddle Wizard, it might give you some more insight: www.epickayaks.com/paddle-wizard

How is this paddle working compared to - well, I've heard this one is the TRADITIONAL one :D - so how is it compared to the stanard paddle?
@LetsGoPaddling5 ай бұрын
Greenland paddles were originally used by Inuit paddlers, mainly for hunting. Euro paddles derived from them. The stroke is longer and less aggressive so it impacts the body less. If used correctly (canted blade technique), it can be much more efficient for long distance touring. They are mainly paddled at low to mid angle. Speed-wise it sits between Euro and wing paddles (again, if used correctly). Blade area is comparable to regular paddles but it's spread out so it's important to dip as much of the blade as possible during a stroke. It's very quiet on the water - that helped Inuit when hunting. It is also buoyant so it is unmatched for maneuvering as well as rolling. I can't roll yet but I'm going to learn it sooner or later. I strongly suggest you have a look at Dancing With The Sea channel (youtube.com/@DancingWithTheSea). Paolo advertises his trainings over there but his videos gave me enough knowledge to get started.
yeah, people get into trouble when they inflate it a little too much during a cold morning and are still out in the water at around 2pm in the scorching heat - this is what kills it air expands with heat so the air pressure inside keeps climbing with the outside temperature, if you don't compensate for this and have it already pumped at the limit during a cool morning then failure during the hottest part of the day is a possibility
@LetsGoPaddling5 ай бұрын
Or when they just keep pumping until it's properly "firm". They end up with 2-3 psi and then it's only a matter of time... so many times I see these valve casings pushed out or the black parts on the sides expanded beyond comprehension. Facebook Marketplace is full of them too.

I didn't get an opportunity to try the Seawave but when I look at Seashine, I can say the future looks bright, especially considering the v-entry hull. I keep my fingers crossed that Gumotex will design a high performance touring single model that will be narrower than Seashine.

When the kayak is deflated, it's very easy to just peek inside through these zips and wipe everything with a cloth. Then leave it in the sun for 10 minutes so that the top of the deck can dry, that's it.

@LetsGoPaddling5 ай бұрын
Because it's easier and cheaper to make an open-decked inflatable kayak. These days, most "brands" take the lazy approach and follow original designs by SeaEagle 393RL or Advanced Elemenets Airvolution. Even Intex kayaks are copied. Gumotex is one of these unique brands that not only make their boats in-house (in Breclaw, Czech Republic) but also their boat skin (Nitrilon, which is rubber, not PVC) they make themselves. Apply this to their own unique designs and you get a kayak like this. I also like sit inside kayaks and I wait with a lot of hope to one day see/own a proper high performance solo touring kayak from Gumotex. Fingers crossed. 😁🤞

@LetsGoPaddling5 ай бұрын
Można nim wiosłować solo i dokupić kokpit jedynkę. W takiej konfiguracji zmieści się więcej bagażu jeśli planuje Pan dłuższe wyprawy. Jednak Rush2 to już potężny wydatek, decyzja na wiele lat (idealnie byłoby móc przetestować go przed podjęciem decyzji). Pozdrawiam z UK, Tom
