This is my absolute favourite America album 😊 the maturity of this album from a just 18 year old Gerry Beckley a nearly 19 year old Dewey Bunnell and a 20 year old Dan Peek is testament to how good they were . This album is up there with the best debut albums ever released , 6/10 is harsh , at least 8/10 and I only say that because in agreement with you chaps Pigeon Song is a little unpleasant and my three favourites are Horse with no name , Sandman and I need you . Enjoyed this vid immensely , thank you .

Interesting that the record sleeve doesn't have any of the original members on it.

I don't know who these guys are but you should be on your knees.. I didn't like this review at all. A couple of amateurs reviewing Darkside. Please!

Original Grand Funk Railroad is my sentimentally favorite Classic Rock Band. I do not care one iota about the current line-up. If you want to see and hear this music Mark Farner's American Band deliver's the goods. Mark Farner was the heart and soul of the band!

I just got American Prayer after it missing from my life for 30 years. I love it despite wrinkling brows. What a band. Love all of their output. Love this album.

The Tambourine Man is Dylan's dealer, and if you've ever had one of those jingle-jangle mornings and you just gotta score, you'd know that deep in your soul. Now his version is a folk-apple to the Byrds' folk-rock orange, so it's harder to compare. Yes their version has more significance as a Classic Rock song for all the reasons you mention (of COURSE The Wrecking Crew recorded it!) but in his version the lyrics tell the fuller tale. Good stuff, new sub

Brian, Alan and David Marks were fired by Mike Love after the 50th anniversary tour in 2012. Mike won the rights to the name "The Beach Boys" in a lawsuit against Brian. Mike didn't want to play at the larger venues having Brian in the group would have required. he likes to play smaller venues with his travelling oldies jukebox band.

The lead host is great, the guest panelists are mediocre. This could be a much better podcast series.

I love the way you guys talked about this record and I love hearing my favorite album talked about at length. I have a couple thoughts about the relationship between Horse Latitudes and Moonlight drive that you guys might find interesting. You see the whole album feels like an opera to me, there’s a lot of narrative happening just in the instrumentals with the constant back and forth between confusion and almost orgasmic joy. I think when Horse Latitudes ends it’s meant to almost fake you out, you think you’re safe for a moment but when you realize what Morrison is actually singing about (two kids dropping acid and drowning) it takes on a much more foreboding feeling, setting the stage for the anxiety of People Are Strange.

George didn't hate the song. He said the sound quality was "rubbish", which it was until this new technology came along.

At time of writing I have not heard the final mix, but the pure extracted voice of John brought a tear to my eye. Aged 15 I heard them live in Leeds, England. It was like standing next to a 707 running up for take off. Yet, I managed to distinguish the songs and checked each one I had heard live very reverently in pencil on the album cover. Thanks for the podcast.

You say you don't know why Mark Farner is not in the current line-up. Because Don Brewer and Mel snookered him out of his share of the band and got him to agree to a corporation and 2 out vote 1 so they basically threw him out. There are plenty videos or articles of what happened. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHuppWCrg8uDh7M

Home Again -my favorite song on the album and all of King's songs-played it for my first piano recital.King on pianos-dubbed, Charles Larkey on string bass, Kunkel on drums, and Taylor on acoustic guitar. All of the band listings for each song are in the back of the LP or CD.

Totally right about how people, especially media, have forgotten how big and how hard to ignore GFR were in the early 1970's. They sold more records and concert seats than anyone else from 1969-1972.

I bought this album when it came out 'n was listenin' to it on my parents' console in our livin' room. My mother came in, gave a listen, picked up the album cover, opened it up, looked at the inside photo o' the band members 'n exclaimed "I can't believe these white boys are playin' this music!"
