I think it would be a great kit and the detail in the cockpit looks superb for a lot of that age

Great effect on the black paint scheme! Going to try that on the 1/144th version of the kit.

Hi Ms Modeller. I have enjoyed watching your videos this year and watched you improve your skill set. Also I like that you build unusual aircraft. I like your enthusiasm for the strange. So may I wish you a happy new year and keep on modelling. Thanks.

Really enjoy your video style and desire to share modelling as a fun hobby - especially the community video you did. Keep up the great content! Off to watch your F-117 video now and keen to hear more about French February as think I have an ideal kit for that...

Happy new year Lexi! I've said it before , I love your attitude! Your positivity shines through, and your approach to modelling is spot on. Your enjoyment of the hobby is plane (see what I did there! 😂) to see and is exactly how it should be. In modelling as in life, you are always learning new things. I've only recently started using an airbrush and am not very confident yet but that's the fun of trying new stuff! Looking forward to a new year of modelling and I'm hoping you build the Robin's! Beautiful sets those bird sets from Airfix! Oh yeah, and the B-36 too! A BBBIIGGGGG Project! Anyhoo,.. all the best Lexi for the new year, take care and have a good one. 😁👍 Bobby

Ive only completed one build this year, and that's a 1/144 scale F-4K phantom FG.1, converted from an academy F-4E. In 2025 im planning more, including my own modelmaking channel.

Only came across you channel recently. Like your philosophy - its a hobby to be enjoyed not to sit in judgement of peoples efforts. I've returned to the hobby after decade away so still learning and cutting my teeth on Airfix starter kits. People like yourself are very encouraging and affirming, so thank you and have a great 2025!

True - build to your own satisfaction and not others. If you love your model then that is the most important thing. Nice to see the development of new techniques and skills as you go along. I always think that every model is an adventure waiting to happen. There will be traumas, joys, successes, expletives !!!! Every model you build has it own history, and you can recall the good bits, the bits not so good. It is great to see a set of one colour sprues converted to a full 3d representation of something you created.

Yes please to building that beast :) Nuclear reactor safe? Flying yes, crashing not so much. That would need so much casing to be truly safe it could never fly.. Skill level 2? Hell even 3 is for Revell's entry level plastic model kits. 5 makes sense. 3 doesn't..

Please build the kit. I’ve been trying to get one for many years. About two years ago I bought one on eBay from the States for a decent price but it was misdelivered by my local courier and the sod of a houseowner denied receiving it. 😢 Fortunately eBay reimbursed me. But my hunt is still ongoing.

I picked up one of the original 1980 Monogram boxings at an estate sale a few months ago for $80 American. You have to build it. I'm extremely intimidated by aluminum-finish planes, so I need inspiration. Ideas for display (this thing is huge!) would also be appreciated.

Build it. IT's a challenge, but worth it when finished. If you are going to do the paint with all of the subtle shaes, you will need several roles of Tamiya tape. I bought it when it came out in 1980 for the princely sum of $15.00 U.S.

I can think of bigger aircraft models that are static display. R/C is a whole different ball game. If you want to go bigger in static its scratch build or card models.

Strategic Air Command is a great movie for model referencing. FYI, the proposed nuclear powered bomber had to have a transport plane full of paratroopers following it so they could secure the crash site if there was an accident!

I don't know about the rest of the world, but Monogram/Revell kits here in Atlantic Canada are starting to get too pricey, considering the kits are hit-or-miss. the 1/48 Century Series kits were well done, while the 1/72 Iroquois was absolute junk. My go-to kit shop is charging $50-100 for second-hand kits that should be in the $25 range...

Fun Fact: The RB-36H reconnaissance Featherweight Peacemakers have the distinction of being one of the highest flying propeller driven aircraft of all time. The aircraft during the early 1950s were flown on recon missions deep within the Soviet Union, Red China and North Korea at altitudes within 60000 feet. For these missions, the aircraft were stripped of non essential equipment including its defensive armaments/ gun turrets except its tail guns. The missions depending on nation penetrated last 12- 15 hours pushing the crews and aircraft to its limits. Within the target for its cameras, bomb bay doors were opened and its four jet engines started for it’s maximum speed / altitude dash over 400mph. Nearly all missions encountered MIG 15 interceptors but because of the B36 speed and altitude, no MIG were successful bringing any B36 down. Many B36 pilots reported the aircraft were more maneuverable, agile at the extreme altitudes seeing the MIGs stall. The B36 were designed in the 1930s for intercontinental flights in case United Kingdom had fallen under Nazi Germany occupation. Later in its service life, it proved itself as a capable nuclear platform that kept the Soviets in fear.

Should look into looking if there are any concept illustrations that the company was planning to convert from a military plane into a civilian aircraft. The problem was that the plane was too noisy to have any passengers. Another thing was that military officers made fun of the plane it had no defense around, so the company put in pop-up gun turrets when needed then disappear into the plane when done.

I bought the original Monogram issue of this kit circa 1984. Built it, then found that I, sadly, hadn't a sensible amount of space in which to display it. I still have an unbuilt Monogram B-47 and B-52 unbuilt in my loft collection.

I built this during Lockdown. It's good fun. It's possible to keep the wings removable so storage is easier. I might bring it to Telford in 2025.

@@foxstrangler I'd love some further info on how to do this for storage? 👀

@@MsModeller Both wings can be built as separate items. The large centre spar unit allows for the wings to be slid on and off as required. The whole structure is rigid enough to allow display. At present the kit is in storage at a local museum in it's transit box. I can get a picture on Sunday to show you how it's done.
