I was there early October, I "made it" just before the park closes for the season. The weather was nearly unbearable. Hot and Humid. I was the last and only trekker of the park. I could visit Finger 5 on day 1 from the carpark (very long day) and Finger 1 to the water, then it was night and it would be stupid to swim in total darkness, especially I had 3 nights of thunderstorms and rain. Then on day 2 I visited Finger 3 (couldn't find the end), a bit of George 4 (too many boulder didn't take the time and no desire to go up this canyon) and finished with Finger 2 close to the end where it was floaded so I didn't get to the very end of it, well from what I know even the best guide hasn't reached the end of Finger 2 yet. Then I went back to my basecamp, started hiking back during the night. I reached the car park on day 3 at 9 am and found a light back to the visitor center where I gave the EPIRB back. I filmed my exploration in VR360 and hope to do a film about it.

I had the privilege of leading 4x4 tours into the Bungles (Purnululu NP in 1987. ) It remains my favourite & the most spiritual place I’ve ever set foot on. I’ve set foot on every continent.

Amazing! So you did it soon after Purnululu NP was discovered? And I agree it's a very spiritual place

@@NatGoesHiking Yes. Declared a NP in March ‘87. I began running tours in there in April. Used to take 5 hours to drive in from highway to three ways junction. Two rotating mobile rangers in the park that year. One chopper pilot based there also. Had access to northern gorges back then. Used to camp near Piccaninny Ck. Truly untouched and quiet other than a few other tour operators. Absolutely magic. Visited every few weeks throughout ‘87. Great memories.

Thank you for watching my video and commenting :) I can imagine the road was probably a lot worse at that time. It's a great experience you had, it is of course a lot busier now for all shorter trails, but the overnight trail is a different experience, you have it almost all to yourself.

I love your filming style!! What camera do you use? And also what time of year did you complete this hike?

Hi Sophia, thank you 😊 For this video I mostly used GoPro Hero 11 and a little bit of Samsung Galaxy. We did this hike in June, the best time to do it during dry season. Also Purnululu National Park is closed from October to March.
