The best thing about SUP for me is that a lot of decent ones are inflatable and I don’t need a roof rack to haul it

Excellent story Michael. Hard to capture the intensity of Mother Nature in a 2D video, but you did it well. I probably shouldn’t be watching this recap right before I sign up for the 2024 race!

How have you been Mike. Any races planned coming up? What are you paddling on these days?
@MichaelCarson14 ай бұрын
Hey Donovan! Hope you're doing well! What have you been up to? Did Last Paddler Standing Dec 23 and immediately followed up with 2 foot surgeries and most recently a deviated septum surgery. So, had some time off with those but back in business now. Doing MR340 this year with the wife on a tandem, planning on Last Paddler again, and Safari next year to get my revenge.

@@MichaelCarson1 Just a couple short races here. I have a torn meniscus I’m about to have surgery on and been dealing w/ a heal spur injury as well. Getting old isn’t for wimps as they say. I’m planning on another Safari run as well. 2 people finished on a paddle board this year. The first female Veronica Sosa and another guy that I heard may have had questionable ethics that set a new Paddleboard record at 81 hours. They had paradise conditions compared to our race in 2022. I would love to come run the Mr340 and the last paddler some day. I’m also considering a fast Spencer canoe or something like it to do the Safari depending on the knee. Good luck and God Bless in all you do Brother. Hope to see you at the Safari!

Nice review. How durable has it been? We run a lot of rivers and bang on bottoms and rocks a lot.
@MichaelCarson15 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I wouldn't run it in rivers with a lot of rocks and debris. So, not that durable.

Good video. 26" beam with the HARD chine is what really puts these into the "recreational" category but that's not a bad thing. It means that it will be far more stable than the more narrow "true" touring boats. The Skylark is a good boat. The thing I didn't like it is that it sits lower than competitors in that market with a heavier guy. I am 5'10" and 225lbs so the Delta 12.10 was a better fit ... for me had I gone that direction. In the end I decided to pick up a used 14-foot long, 23" wide used Hurricane which is less stable but it's still a lot of fun for about $500. I do still watch FB marketplace and craigslist hoping to pick up one of the kevlar or carbon-based yaks but for 95% of people watching these videos, the Skylark or Delta's are a better fit
