The IRC Gp 21 and 22 stock tires are very good tires. I went to a kenda tire and it was less stable and made a loud whine past 50 mph. I immediately went back to the IRC stock tire and will probably stick with these forever. They’re very good on the road and pretty good on the off-road. Stable and quiet past 50 mph.

Thought I would drop a recent comment. I did a 529 swap, on 285 70r 17 Mickey's. I do have cab silence mat on rear cab rear floor and love the reduced road noise. I can hear the nitro gears decelerating, not bad like turbo wine. I did a 20 minute drive 30+ minutes cool down 5 times for gears after installer did two runs and oil change. I have to admit that the the RPM is a bit higher in 6th than I thought it would be, but it's okay. Nothing a bigger tire won't fix wright? First thank of fuel is 17 mpg town, I was hoping for better so we will have to see after 500 miles

@@Andriesdemotorrijder All you need to do is stay below redline, the torque curve of the engine doesn't really reward you for shifting at redline as the power starts dropping off after 9,000, probably just faster to short shift it. The engine can handle being held wide open all day, my one buddy has over 30,000 miles on his from going all over North America, much of it going as fast as the bike can go.

@@localresident7826 OK let’s take a look at this. We have a motorcycle reviewer who gets the bikes, reviews them under several different criteria and then tells you what he thinks of them. Then we have a dip shit riding around on his Goat, I didn’t make that up. He actually said that. As he’s riding around, he’s telling us about how a friend of his had a friend who had a KTM 390 and went on to spew out the second and thirdhand information, as if it were fact. The CRF 300 L and the Klx 300 are both good dual sport bikes. The rally is a less good dual sport because of its weight. If you want to put it in with lightweight adventure, bikes, it’s down near the bottom because of it’s limited touring ability, and extremely soft suspension. Even after you’ve upgraded the suspension there is not a lot you can do about the engine without spending big money at that point you should’ve bought another bike. Don’t get me wrong it can do it but the KTM can do it better out of the box. As an adventure bike, the rally it is not good and as a dual sport. Well, its own counterpart the 300 L puts it to shame. Which is pretty much what Ian told us and his reviews.

@@grindlex9 which is more comfortable for an all day ride seat wise and all?
@grindlex9
@grindlex9 10 ай бұрын
The CB500X has an aftermarket seat, so that is better, but the rider triangle is smaller, knees specifically more bent. The weather/wind protection is similar, the air off of the CB hits about upper chest, the 300L it hits mid helmet but it isn't very turbulent on either bike. At higher speeds I prefer the clean air on my whole helmet, at lower speeds the taller shield is better. With a seat concepts on the 300L I think I could sit that bike for longer, If I was doing 10 hours on the highway I'd probably take the CB500x and question my decision after about 4 hours...@@jackle842000

But they need to put more effort into these stupid seats that are built for teenager cool factor. People want to ride these all day through the back roads exploring too before hitting a trail. Manufacturers are too cheap to offer up good seats these days. There was better seats in the 80's bikes even. What the heck? Lol

Yours is not a good review because you are heavily biased. You have carefully laid out all of the things you like about your CRF 300 rally. There are a lot of things to like about the CRF 300 rally. However, you either don’t talk about or take the position that it’s no big deal about some glaringly bad things about the crf300 rally. There is no way around it. The suspension is comically soft. The factory, foot, pegs, pedals, levers and handlebars are extremely low quality. The power to weight ratio of the crf300 rally is quite bad making it no good for serious, off-road, and very under powered for any kind of touring. It does, however live right in the sweet spot between those two things for which it is ideally suited. Lastly, you like to make cheap shots at KTM because the 390 is built in India. The crf300 rally is built in Thailand. The KTM was designed in Austria by a very reputable company, and a Honda was designed in Japan by an very reputable company. The 390 adventure has a lot more power has better quality suspension. It also has a far superior electronics package. The KTM 390 does not have the clearance or the suspension travel of the CRF 300 rally. At the end of the day, your 300 rally is a more trail capable trail bike. It is in no way a dirtbike, it is far too heavy, and under powered. I get it that you really like your CRF 300 rally and because of that, I don’t think you can be critical of it.

They come from the factory with passenger car tires that are super light, 15-20 lbs less per tire than the 235/85R16 BFG KO2's I have now. I had an access cab with a 4 banger 5 speed manual before and I got about 22 mpg commuting, as soon as I went to the BFG's I stopped getting flat tires and my economy dropped to 18 highway, 15-16 city and less in 4wd. I get 16 with a cargo box on my thule ladder rack around town commuting, about 12-13 towing my 4000 lb camper, around 20 cruising country roads. Wish I had a bigger gas tank, I know they make them. @@grindlex9 I never had a flat on 2 3rd Gen Tacoma's. Ran Cooper AT3's on the first one but didnt like the feel and mpg loss. I haul 900lb lbs and atv's in the bed, tow fishing boats and run logging roads monthly, and jobsites weekly. Break through crusty ice during the winter driving out on the lakes. U can call them passenger car tires but they see more truck duty and handle it better than everyone's Bro Tread AT's. Besides the power and mpg they keep, they actually air up/down to cushion the rocky roads i hunt or max psi when Im towing heavy trailers. The 10 ply bricks wouldnt even air down enough to change ride quality on a Tacoma. The oem Firestone LE2s are steel belted though, why i bought another set. The fuel economy is about the same, maybe a little less at higher speeds since the rpm’s are higher and probably 1 Mog less around town since I rod on it more, way more peppy feeling. I had a 2015 with the 2.7 and the same tires last time. Not sure what the stock ratio is on your truck, 5.29 might be too aggressive, play around with a gearing calculator on line and see.
