Hello! I see tha you recently have the Air Motion PRO. So I would like to know: What is the amount of latency? and, is it noticeable? I mean, can you perceive it? Thanks bro.
@lattieboyjohn
@lattieboyjohn 27 күн бұрын
Hey thanks for reaching out, the latency is basically zero i would say. I know its not measured by a specific tool but its instant. I have another blue tooth midi device and I feel that the Air motion Pro is much better. I did a video of me playing with the Air Motion Pro look at it. Very good product probably the best breath controller on the market.
@dimebag6096
@dimebag6096 27 күн бұрын
@@lattieboyjohn Ah ok!. Well, I asked you because I consulted directly with the brand and they told me that the latency was around 15 to 18 ms. Which seems quite a lot to me, because it makes it quite noticeable to the human ear. But I don't know how much you can perceive or feel in a wind controller vs an attack controller like a synth through a plug-in like Sampletank, Native Instruments, or a guitar through a plug-in like Amplitube, Neural, etc. Where if you don't have a very low latency, you do feel a very small delay.

@@dimebag6096 No I havent, but i think that from the videos that I saw its very good also. The Bluetooth dongle with the Air motion pro gives you valuable information on the dongle screen that makes it so great to work with.

@@dimebag6096 Yeah I understand what you are saying. The Air Motion pro is a Breath controller which uses breath as midi data to control the attack of the note and the duration using your breath. You still have to play the notes on your synt in order to hear any sound from your synt or your computer. For me I have had better results with the Air Motion Pro than I have with the wind controller if i'm using the wind controller with a widi rig i set up to do the same thing.

I'm a bit confused about the dongle. Do you always need a computer between the breath controller and the instrument? MIDI usb ports on synthesizers are typically "type A" but the dongle is "type B". Also, if I want to connect it to 5 pin DIN midi ports, what extras do I need?
@lattieboyjohn
@lattieboyjohn Ай бұрын
The dongle is very versatile piece of gear. The app for the software can be downloaded from the play store or the apple. Its used to set up different parameters for the the breath controller using your smart phone or tablet. The breath controller needs to communicate with software or communicate with your Synt via midi. If your synt has a USB port then you can connect it directly to your computer via USb, most likely then you will be triggering a soft synt on a computer.However you can set it up to trigger the sound from a regular keyboard synt. Remember the breath controller provides the data information but you play the actual notes on the piano. If you want to use a 5 pin midi cable you will need an adapter that will allow you to conver the USB midi data to 5 pin midi that will be recieve on your midi in port.The breath controller sends out wireless blue tooth midi data so your converter will have to convert that data to 5 pin mici. If you look at my youtube channel you will see a video i did with the new breath controller. However if you look I have a video that was done using an Akai EWI USb wind controller. For that I used a device from a company name CME Widi master. That device can convert the wireless blue tooth data to another device name Widi master which uses a wireless midi 5 pin gongle that recieves the wireless blue tooth midi signal at the midi in port. Check out that company and im sure others online that is doing it. It lets you convert the wireless midi blue tooth data to 5pin midi data at your ports wirelessly..
@lattieboyjohn
@lattieboyjohn Ай бұрын
The dongle talks directly to the breath controller via wireless blue tooth midi to set up midi cc data to control breath, vibrato etc. In my video im using the CME Uhost to connected to my akai ewi usb midi port via a phone bower bank for power then im using a dongle from CME to recieve the signal via blue tooth to my computer but I can also use the CME widi master to send the signal directly to regular midi keyboard via the widi master which will receive the data at the keyboard midi in port. However the widi master will come with a midi out and midi in as a pair. the widi out port powers the widi in port. and if you have a 2 sets of widi master you can really make magic. hope you get it.

@StefaanHimpe
@StefaanHimpe Ай бұрын
@@lattieboyjohn Actually I will probably try several things: using it to add expressivity to sounds generated by roland Integra-7 and Prophet Rev2 patches, but probably also doing some more experimental stuff, e.g. using it as a kind of instrument of its own by using it to influence experimental compositions made with supercollider... I just really like to experiment, and have no fixed plan for it yet. I kind of expect that breath control has many possible applications beyond what it was originally conceived for.

Greetings my brother, l hope this finds you doing well. I would like to request some info/advice about your CME Bluetooth set up please. I have an Akai Ewi USB and lm so sick of getting tangled in the 3 metre cable l want to make it wireless too, for stage. So would you tell me the exact items l require and is the Bluetooth of the Mac not sufficient or do you need an additional USB dongle as well? Respect King! ✊🏾

My set up is very simple. I using a the smallest phone power bank i could find and I use velcro pads to on the bottom of it to fix it on the top of the Ewi USB. Then I have the WIDI Uhost connected to the power bank, that send the current to power the WIDI Uhost. So the Uhost has two USB C ports, one is marked to USB power and the other is marked USB Host/Device. From the USB host/Device port I connect that to the EWI usb port. Both of my cable are 6inch USB cables. The other piece of gear is the CME WIDI BUD Pro. The USB Host need will communicate with the WIDI bud pro. The WIDI BUD Pro is connected to a USB port on my mac or PC. Remember this is midi over Blue tooth. The blue tooth on the mac wont see the just the Uhost, its the midi information from the EWi we want to get to play the sample in Kontact. This is my set up. However I also have The WIDI Master this is also made by CME. If I want to send midi to a Synt then I will use the WIDI Master. My configuration on the EWI USB will remain the same, the only difference is that instead of my midi going to the my WIDI BUD pro it will go to my WIDI Master which would be connected to my Synt. 5 pin Midi in and Midi out port on my synt. Hope this helps.
