"I remember being just mesmerized, overwhelmed by the sound, by the speed. We didn't even have a grandstand seat, we were up on that bank before the Parabolica on the left. You know, we had a good view of things" - Mario Andretti

Alan Jones champion in 1981 ??? That mediocre man has to thank God that he had Lole Reutemann covering his back for the entire 1980 championship because otherwise he would not have even been able to win the spit championship.

That is pretty amazing. The narrator is absolutely savage about some of the drivers and teams

A short driver's presentation from the eighties, like this one, is better to watch than the average race we have nowadays in F1. So sad!

If was around this time that I started watching F1. I was a tiny kid and it was mind boggling. I miss these times.

Watch out during pitstops, in case De Cesaris rams him from behind. Lol. Is it Clive James?

but Andrea was very very quick when he was in form. He should have won the '83 Belgian GP and the '91 Belgian GP as well.

@immortalperser It's Grand Prix racing, the FIA Formula 1 World Championship begun with the 1981 season. Before that, "International Formula 1" was the name of the set of rules. So you had the Grand Prix World Championship run to F1 rules, and the british Aurora F1 series and the South African F1 series.

One of the most talented racecar drivers which has ever existed. With very little experience of racing cars, especially not the insanely difficult mid 30's Grand Prix cars, he jumped in an was immediately on the pace.
