older version my dad used was more spicy and twice as strong. i have the current stuff and it is a bit more citrussy but the same smell but lighter. but still strong enough to last about 4-5 hours.

You did well with your new (vintage) King Seiko. I just purchased the KS44 1966 ( my birth year)version with the back croc strap. Mine will have minor blemishes like yours. However, i will do nothing to fix it. It just gives it that history of " who owned it before" vibe. I am delighted with my purchase, and I can't wait to receive it.

I will say if you're going to buy Sperrys for a nice dinner or party, or what we call on the coast of Carolina, "your Sundy shoes," spend the extra money and buy the Gold Cup series....its like walking on a leather cloud. The lambskin insoles are absolutely luxurious. During covid a company flew me out to south Louisiana every month to test and assess oilfield workers. That was during the hurricane assault on LA so you couldn't find a rental car within 500 miles...so i decided to walk everywhere from the hotel i was stationed at. I was walking 90 miles a week around the towns i operated out of and i initially wore the standard $100 authentic original boat shoes...i blew a hole out the toe rather quickly, so i had to use my Gold Cups. They held up great...for many hundreds of miles in the hot and sweltering heat, rain, and humidity of South Louisiana and my shoes never once smelled bad or felt bad. I highly recommend the moving up to the Gold Cup line! (I am on my 4th set of tan GC's and LOVE THEM!)

Sweet purchase for sure. Modern Seiko can be so frustrating.And although most of Seiko's classic designs came from Suwa, I think this Daini model is just one of Seiko's most beautiful designs.

Little known fact, the watch in OHMSS shown here at 5:04 is actually a small crown, no hash mark, no crown guard sub with the crown pulled out. It's a blink and you'll miss it continuity break.
