The decline of Brazilian football is undoubtly related to the bad quality of coaching here, however, we can deny the influence of the global market of football that became more intensified by the 1990s . The clubs in Brazil have become obsolete and the managers have become the "owners" of our football. The huge amount of money of Europe engolfed our domestic football.

Tim talking nonsense about Ancelotti. As if Carlo had said to the club, ye know what, let me just think about that contract extension for a while, then suddenly when his man in Brazil, according to Tim, gets ousted, Ancelotti was like yeah cool, they don't want me now boys, I'll stay after all. OK THEN TIM By the way, I'm sure even in Brazil you can easily deal with that awful AV setup you have going there.

The reason why people in Brazil want more more domestic players is not necessarily to improve the team technically but to simply have more engagement with the Brazilian people who barely see any of their national team players and so never build any sort of connection with the individual players. This, along with the fact that the national team tends to take players away from their local clubs when they need the most, creates a feeling of apathy towards the team. It doesn’t help that they’re not winning anything either though
@miguelmarques45834 күн бұрын
We saw players from minor teams in europe and especially the premier league be called over players in the domestic leagues. We were told patronizingly that a player in europe no matter how small his team is was worth more than any player in a top team in Brazil. The example of Hulk is only one example, and the journalist who put it in circulation (Bruno Formiga) has gone quiet especially after we have seen our "Premier League squad" get themselves handed to by south american squads filled with player from... the domestic league. And we have to hear Mr Andreas smugly looking down to his uruguayan counterparts because "we all play in the premier league". People complained of Yan Couto but when they saw that he was devoted and treated his call up as an honour and a duty, the complaints ceased. The other players have not showed that yet. I don't believe it is mere petty nationalism.
@abody4993 күн бұрын
so not nationalism but rather just a case of more devotion and positive sentiment needed towards the national cause. ok got it.

If you want to understand the decline of Brazilian football, you have to understand the decline of Brazilian coaching. And to understand that decline, all you have to do is look at the insane calendar. As an example: between July 28th and September 1st, Atletico Mineiro played 11 matches. That is a match every 3 days. While traveling as far south as Buenos Aires and as far north as Maceio. Managers in Brazil simply have no time to scout, adjust, improve, experiment, etc.
@marihutten4 күн бұрын
This is so true. Then Europeans make fun of Brazilian players for having short careers, even healthy ones that don't have a party lifestyle, if they looked at the schedule these guys have until they get sold to Europe they'd understand. A player like Lamine Yamal in the Brazilian league would start getting serious injuries by age 21. I think Neymar started having so many injuries young because of how many games he was playing at 17. Boys aren'y even fully grown at 17 yet, the body is quite literally still growing, that can't be good for the human body.
@Felipe_AC6 күн бұрын
Brazil under Tite relied heavily on 1x1 situations. For that, Brazil would divide the team in 2 blocks. One block would defend and circulate the ball until a player on the offensive block was free (Usually at the wings), and that player would then be encouraged to dribble while others would work to create space for him. If he lost the ball, others would press immediately. That's why Brazil conceded fewer chances. It worked because the best players we had were dribblers, specially Neymar, and the team worked as a whole to create space for those few selective players. Under Diniz he instructed the players to dribble less and rely on combination play. Not only the players who liked to dribble would have less space, but they also were instructed to pass, against their characteristics. Not only that but he broke the structure of the 2 blocks, so the team was struggling to regain possession when lost, and was conceding too many counter-attacks. A complete mess and the very opposite of both Tite and the players themselves. But one thing is certain, they both had a pattern of how they wanted their team to play. Dorival wants to give freedom to his players, making them as unpredictable as possible. But instead of confusing the opposition, is confusing his players instead. Often even himself... It could lead to something, but to what we don't know yet.

outdated coaches and a below par generation (mediocre fullbacks, avg midfielders and no striker). maybe a 343 would be interesting to take advantage of your worldclass centerbacks and wingers. André was called "old man" in the Fluminense's base, because he seems to have the experience of a 30-year-old player. In FlaxFlu's (the biggest derby in Brazil), which is usually a hell, he always played well and nullified players from the Uruguayan national team. I'm not sure if he's going to make it, but my personal opinion is that he has potential to be better than Casemiro's prime in Madrid.

Sounds the perfect player we've been crying out for, Lemina/Gomes great on the ball but arent disciplined enough alongside a 4atb. Andre could not only be a fantastic signing in his own right but also allow gomes and lemina to express themselves and influence the game even more...could be a very exciting midfield 3!

O'Neil has been working on a midfielder dropping into a back 3 with Lemina mostly doing that role, but as shown against Chelsea this isnt Lemina's game. So sounds like Andre coming in will allow Lemina more freedom so perhaps a 433 with Andre as 6 is the way we go. I actually think that could really well. 2 narrow forwards in Cunha & Sarabia, would really unleash Cunha who i feel is our best player, 2 attacking full backs providing width. Semedo/Lima & Ait-Nouri, we'd finally have protection from Andre defensively and 2 really intense ball winners in front with Gomes & Lemina will allow O'Neil to go full throttle with his press. Genuinely excited about this signing now!

Irrespective of LWs kamikaze 2nd H showing vs Chelsea, I remain skeptical due to the following; I can list multiple hyped S Americans who DIDN'T quite fit the PL (notables Inc Veron, Di Maria, Forlan, Alexis Sanchez yada) so given that both Jiao Gomes an Raul Jimenez had been (qualified) successes here, it almost feels like OVER-mining a rich seam imvho. WWFCs game is also built around PACE and sharp passing, so imvho acquiring a slower MF (than thos around him) will NOT benefit us much. Prediction? File under Matheus Nunes.

Thanks for your comment. But if you listen to our podcast regularly or other episodes, we don't overhype players at all. We've stated within the podcast Andre isn't slow - watch Flu's matches and you'll soon see for yourself. Also, as you've brought him up as a failure, Alexis Sanchez scored 60 goals in 120 appearances for Arsenal!

@@TheCopaClubwell sure, but there's a great stat based upon LO numbers cos Sanchez disposed from Man Us first squad - an subsequently the PL - within 2 yrs of his 3-yr contract. Obvs, as a WWFC fan I want our signings to prosper, but considering we acquired the sublime Neto at UNDER £20m, I wouldn't say a player OVER £20m plus add-ons is (relatively) negligible for our club atall, despite what u claim in ur op ed. (BTW, if u know anybody who'll take Silva off us for £20m then I'll agree with anything u say) 👌🏽💰💰™️
