Great show, Ross. Getting to the stage where l will be finished with betting on racing. Had the last winner with WH and got told no cash to pay, but what was worse, a gentleman behind won a few grand and was told that they should not have taken the bet. I get another big handicap winner in Shoot First 22/1. The horse was well in by a stone with the claimer on board. Only won by 2 3/4 lengths. More to come, I think. That was a classic Byrens target race worth a big pot.

The Doyen Quest race at Haydock, you have the Charles Bryen Shoot First. Won at Chelt Oct 22, not seen since then come back at Galway with a promising run last month. A valuable race that Bryen would target, and on a 139, he must have a bit up his sleeve. I watched the Galway race, and it was like a prep race for Saturday. We still don't know if Doyen Quest will turn up until the 48 decs, and all depends on how he came out of the Saturday race.

Maybe a bit early but with hurdle form over the mid distance and his jumping ability Imperial Saint could be one for novice handicap at the festival and Haiti Couleurs' jumping and stamina one for the NHC handicap
