Thank you so much for the comment and suggestion 😊 I have tried chain lube from RE but the result was not satisfactory, gear oil works great and it is cheap. The only issue is it accumulates dirt. Surely I will try motul lube as you have suggested and will update..

Absolutely, I agree. One should be very careful while working on a bike. Can you suggest a rear tire hugger and an extension for front mudguard of the 450? The bike loves to throw dirt and muck on itself 🤦‍♂. Am tired of cleaning it
@OnceARider
@OnceARider 6 күн бұрын
Unforunately no specific made for Himalayan 450 options are available for rear tyre but you try some generic ones. And for the front, it already comes an extender installed as standard and people are kind of removing it to get more naked dirtbike look. Howerver if you want something bigger then, again there are no specific Himalayn 450 options available and you try some generic ones. In this case going to local market and explore will help.

As per the specs the torque is there but you need to shift the gears quite frequently, specially in city riding conditions which is little annoying sometime. You need to get used to of it. However I would say during adventure ride or touring this would not be an issue.

@MusafirAhamed
@MusafirAhamed 9 күн бұрын
@OnceARider Yeah, I know that. I have given my Himalayan 450 for the second service, which is clocked at 2600 km.. And from the service centre, they informed me my rear breakpad was done. But I don't use rear breaks much. I depends on front break and engine breaking mostly
@OnceARider
@OnceARider 9 күн бұрын
@MusafirAhamed okay, then you should adjust the brake lever position, sometime due to shoes or our sitting style we rest the foot on brake lever and unknowingly it gets presses and that is enough to wear out those pads. To test it just ride for 1km or so and do not use rear brake, on stopping touch the brake rotor if it is warm or hot then the brake leaver is getting pressed unknowingly. And adjust the leaver position accordingly. Hope this helps. I am saying this considering you have checked and verified that your old pads are worn-out and service center is not scamming you.

...don't own an RE. But like those bikes. There is a youtube video around from a guy explaining how important those bolts are. If those are not tight the frame will take too much load. The engine - as stressed member - should take a big part of the load. If those bolts are loose there is a danger that the frame suffers damage from overload. Means: try to get a detailed description from RE how to proceed. Correct prestress / Torque on those bolts might be super critical. Good luck! Regards, Andreas
@OnceARider
@OnceARider 10 күн бұрын
Hi Andreas, Thank you for sharing that information and you are right, those bolts are super critical since engine is also a stress member, for now I have tighten those bolt with some medium strength thread lock and very soon I have to go for 2nd service. As u are saying right that even oem bokts getting loose..and they tight without any torque wrench even if u install oem crash guard theytight will nrmal alenkey without specific force..so just blaming after market crash guard is not good thing ..so if u install oem or after market connection point and bolt tighten is same as after market..only we canassume that oem guard is tested..and light weight to observe damage.. but if the oem is tested well what about other loosen bolts..so one experienced mechanic said to use lock tight gel for crash guard fitting to protect ..bolt to be loosen..n apart from that2 cases..in my group theirare atlest 7..8 himalayan but they dontface anny issue after long trip to ladakh..even my 2frnd went to ladkh ..n when they come i willupdate about their bikes durablity.. note 4 out of 5 frnds have after market guards..u r view on this durablity issue will guide us fruther what u say..??

Well, I would say there is no durability issue as such, just bit of negligence from RE service centers, they have skill gap. Since this is a all new engine and chassis design the local service centers are not aware about he issue which might occur. These are minor issues and can be fixed easily, since in this new chassis design the engine also a part of stress member so obviously it will transfer the vibrations to the chassis and bolts will come loose, they should have applied thread lock while installing the engine guard. So, I have done it myself now, will update soon if there are some new findings.
