In honor of Ms Maggie Smith, we just watched "Quartet" in which this recording was used. So I had to watch this. They are all great, but Dame Joan is just beyond amazing. My husband, who is not an opera fan, asked to see it again.

Joan Sutherland is my favorite soprano ever. I was in Blue Ridge Parkway when her death was announced on the radio. October 10th , 2010. I couldn’t bring myself to driving , my heart was broken.

con questo quartetto vocale Verdi ha scritto un capolavoro,e questa esecuzione credo che l'abbia sentita anche lui dal cielo,perchè meglio di così non è possilbile eseguirla,beato chi era presente in teatro, io mi sarei spellato le mani ad appludire.

I have looked high and low for this performance. It's my favorite of her covers. I wish she would put it on an album, or perform it again so I could get a copy with better sound quality. Thank you so, so much for posting this❤
