I have that stopping sensation especially just after I get these various weird wild pounding beats like a thud jumping etc like my heart reset itself. I was diagnosed with bigeminy years ago im 62 and these started at 17 I've had a few different drs say they hear murmurs or palpitations and even once said trigeminy but no one has ever stated you have this or that just the bigeminy.. I'm wondering is the sudden drop feeling stopping feeling is something I should be worried. I also saw on my echo results the words mild thickening of the left wall and MITRAL VALVE: Mildly thickened leaflets. There was trace regurgitation. And again indications: murmur and says the aortic and mitral valves have mild thickened leaflets

The heart stopping sensation may be related to the extra ventricular beats (bigeminy). I would have this reassessed if you are concerned. Depending on how many “extra beats” you are having, you may be a candidate to various therapies. Regarding the echocardiographic findings: while what you mention does not sound high-risk, it would be best to discuss the details with the ordering physician. - Dr. Alexander Postalian

Some patients tend to deposit plaque in the arteries at lower levels of circulating cholesterol. Prior insults (like smoking) can play a role. Moreover, there can be other types of "bad cholesterol" that are not being measured. If an individual has that calcium deposition in the coronaries, they should be aggressive with prevention even if blood cholesterol levels are not "horrible". - Dr. Alexander Postalian

@TexasHeartInstitute does that just mean go on a statin? Like I said I eat extremely healthy and get lots of exercise. Non smoker too.

I just had two ct scans with contrast after going in to the ER with fears of a stroke. They said I didn't have one (I am 48) but to go to a neurologist. I had to wait a bit to get the ct scans and he called me back a few hours later to say that it looks like I may have this. I have an MRI scheduled but I couldn't get in until September so I suppose I may be waiting a bit longer to know anything for sure.

For someone who is physically very fit, exercising daily, optimal lipid profile, on statin for over 10 years and no symptoms what so ever, yet a 70% percentile CAC score (665) for his age. Would it be best to schedule a CT angiography given just the high CAC? Also since statins change plaque composition could that be a cause for the high CAC score. Thanks!
@TexasHeartInstituteАй бұрын
"The risk factors for plaque deposition are related to both lifestyle and genetics, not just one. A CT angiography will help determine if there is significant vessel obstruction - However, since we know that fixing blockages is most helpful when the patient has symptoms (such as chest pain or shortness of breath) or is having a heart attack (with objective evidence of heart muscle injury), these studies are mostly pursued only in patients with concerning symptoms. Having said that, it is true that knowing the total plaque burden and plaque composition may be helpful in estimating the level of future risk, but most insurance companies will not pay for testing without a strong compelling reason, and most professional medical guidelines do not strongly recommend it either (yet). Statins may cause soft plaque to calcify, increasing the calcium score but reducing the overall level of risk. Remember that most patients with high calcium scores, before starting statin therapy, have a substantial burden of soft plaque - which is believed to be more dangerous." - Dr. Alexander Postalian

I have been recently diagnosed with SVT and I am status post cardiac ablation. I still have PVCs and PACs and short run of SVTs but nothing like I had before. I have, on a couple of occasions, feel like my heart stops for four or five seconds and I am about to pass out. I actually screamed for help last time. What could this be? I am very aware of my PVCs and PACs and I am confident that it was not that.

I’m 70 125, normal lipids with 100 hdl’s but on 20 of crestor for a year. I walk 2+ miles per day and have no co morbidities. My calcium score was 140 last year before I started the crestor a year later it’s 206. It’s my RCA that’s primarily affected. They’re increasing my crestor to 40 and adding aspirin. Should I be considered for a prophylactic stent or more diagnostic angiography?
@TexasHeartInstituteАй бұрын
Stents are mostly to treat symptoms (chest pain, dyspnea on exertion) caused by a significant blockage (which cannot be assessed with a calcium score), or to treat heart attacks as they are occurring. In some situations, they can be used for prevention - however, this is not very common, and a calcium score is not enough to make these decisions. A calcium score is used to decide how aggressive we need to be with lifestyle intervention and the use of preventative medication. Regarding diagnostic angiography: since it is invasive, it is usually reserved for high-risk patients with symptoms, or if we already have a non-invasive study suggesting that a blockage is causing significant problems (again, with symptoms). - Dr. Alexander Postalian The Texas Heart Institute Center for Cardiovascular Care (713) 790-9401

My cac score was read as zero. But to me it looked like there was a very tiny calc in the LAD. Did they just miss it? Was it not dense enough or large enough to be counted?
@alexanderpostalian60002 ай бұрын
Yes, there is a threshold of intensity for the calcium to be counted. There is also a manual component, which means a bit can be missed. Moreover, depending on the resolution (slice thickness) of the scan - some small areas may not be pictured at all. Nonetheless, the reports are reasonably accurate the vast majority of the time. If you have doubts, ask the imager to have a second look.

@@alexanderpostalian6000 so the radiologist did an addendum….”1mm hyper density is unable to be detected and computed by the software, even when entered manually. Therefore not likely to be of clinical significance “. Does that make sense ?

Insulin resistance is NOT the primary offender. It occurs secondarily from excess carbohydrate consumption, chronic stress (with elevated endogenous glucose), and free radical damage to cell walls (insulin receptor damage) and mitochondrial damage. Dietary free radicals come from "healthy" polyunsaturated fats in seed oils. Public health, physicians, Big Pharma, and the food industry have been killing us for decades. Reply

They are celebrating the discovery of another inhibitor or blocker to MANAGE the symptoms - keep the public on half a dozen meds life long - WHY because this model makes their big pharma sponsors billions allows these uneducated doctors (charlatans) to charge hundreds of dollars per hour to erite scripts... Did you notice their is no talk of the word cure... God forbid if the patient got cured they, the big pharma and the PROCESSED FOOD Industry would go bankrupt! And sitting on the top of this corrupt value chain are the soulless politicians and their 3 letter agencies (FDA etc) who are bought and paid by the pharmaceutical and processed food industry 🎉.... Just ban fructose, seed oil and ultra processed (refined) wheat and see how many doctors, pharmaceutical companies and processed / junk food businesses go BUST and Diabetes rate drop like a brick overnight 😂
