This is why I have always loved will Sparks and all churches that make sure they acknowledge and accept everyone in every way for when you can walk into a place for the very first time and immediately feel accepted and welcome it is such a huge deal for people who have a back ground as I do . I came from a world that was not so welcoming full of betrayal, violence and pain . So I was made to believe I would never be welcome or be accepted. But when I first walked into northwood United I was so welcomed and treated with respect and I was so in denial cause I was sure they were just being nice cause they wanted something..... but the only thing they wanted was for me to be there and be part of God's plan. I am forever grateful for God leading me to will on that very day I was so alone at that point in my life it was just me and my boy Joshua and I had no family or anything to be a part of I thought I was worthless and not worthy of God's love. Thank God that all changed and Will helped me that very day realize I was I was worthy and there denying it. I was trying to use excuses of oh I am not dress properly or I am single mom to make a quick get away but as I sat there listening it was like will was talking directly to me without me saying word the sermon that day was is there a dress code for church ... he yes you must please wear clothes 😂 but other then that it was wear what you want come as you are YOU ARE WELCOME! And just as worthy of God's love then anyone

Congratulations, Denis and Jennifer! Beautiful couple, Christ-honouring ceremony, inspiring mutual washing of each other's feet the way the Lord Jesus taught us to love and serve each other in humility. May this always be true in your lives together.

At this time of the "great unknown" of COVID-19 I'll keep in mind your beautiful anthem "Oceans" at 50:40. What a sign of resilience to see everyone standing in social distanced solidarity on the set of the cancelled production singing, "When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace..."

How can we make our urban neighborhoods more connected , my neighbours are all so busy!
@HighlandsUnitedChurch5 жыл бұрын
Yes! What a great question. Everyone is rushing out of the neighbourhood to different places, disconnecting themselves. What would it look like to send hope into this situation (I guess it's a little cold for a block party ....) ? Is there a way to start small?
@rosswhite99625 жыл бұрын
Many ways! I've tried small bags of bridge mix to each door with a note, encouraging a 12 year old to post a neighborhood newsletter, offering a forest restoration project and stopping to chat whenever someone is visible. Block parties don't build consensus but who wants to come to a street-meeting?@@HighlandsUnitedChurch
@HighlandsUnitedChurch5 жыл бұрын
@@rosswhite9962 I love all of these ideas. It takes a long time, but so it was for the Israelites too (hopefully it doesn't take 400 years to meet the neighbours though ...) What kinds of things are your neighbours constantly rushing off too? Are there convenient options that might also connect people (carpooling, child care, meal sharing, etc.)
