That was a shape shifting Iron Eagle munition that can be replenished or swapped mid-air ; a makeshift Maverick or any other kind. About jets after ejecting: I remember hearing about an F-4E that landed on runway and was able to be restored airworthy after both crew members had to eject on short final decades ago when I was a kid. Probably in 80s somewhere in Turkey. They said the jet ran into a flock of birds, lost both engines but was trimmed good and got lighter after ejection to make it to runway and wasn't written off until it was destroyed later in another accident.

Wht a great video, thank you. At the end you mentioned a perfect jet being a combo of the two, maybe a dumb question but could the F22 be that?

Always wanted to see a comparison between the MiG-29K, the Rafale M & the FA-18 E/F. Those 3 are so comparable that it would be great to see a pilot experienced in all 3 to compare them. I s’pose one day it might be possible. I heard that the latest update on the 29K means they no longer need avionics resets after each carrier landing.

Mover, not sure if you have ever said, but did you ever do carrier landing training even on a land runway or is that separate training from learning to fly the Hornet? Just curious how the Navy does their training. Thank you for this very interesting video. Would love a follow-up as to differences flying for the Navy vs. USAF. Loved all your helicopter training videos with Lester! Maybe someday I will get to fly in a helicopter. Also wondering if you have ever been up in a glider? It is an awesome experience. Keep up your awesome work!

Aircraft at 07:whatever (010?) with nozzle and rocking stabs was most likely an RF-8A Crusader. Depending on the carrier, it might have still been a fighter version, but I think they'd have gone all F-4 by then. Actually, F-8s were still flying air superiority missions during Linebacker 2, so there you go. Time of filming, almost certainly an RF version. Although VFP-206 retired the last one in '87, so not sure. Doesn't look like an A-7 tail to me.

Not a pilot but grew up in planes with my father. The last 13 years I live 1.5 miles from the Reno Air Races, always watched the Thunder Birds & Blue Angels. Remember one pilot saying " you don't climb in to the F-16, you strap it on. Sure going to miss the races.

It would be interesting to have comparisons with latest Russian fighters and comments about weapons performance when fighting those. Think about coming confrontations in Ukraine. Would like to know, how the F16s will shut the Russians either long distance and on dog fights.

As a retired US Navy Aviation Maintenance Chief with experience in F-18s, I totally disagree with the comments after watching this podcast. First and foremost, it is obvious that this pilot has never flown carrier operations. You have to use hand signals because during each carrier launch, you might have 25-30 jets, all laughing at the same time in a small space. The Navy retired the F18A-D models years ago and upgraded to the F18 E-F model. The F18E-F will fly circles around the F16. That has already been proven at events like Red Flag. Secondly, Naval Aviators that also include the Marine Corps are the best pilots in the world. To land on a moving aircraft carrier in all types of weather conditions takes a unique pilot to perform that task. During the night when the ocean is pitch black with a pitching deck, it is extremely challenging for any pilot. I spent my entire naval career on aircraft carriers, and that is why there is no comparison between AirForce pilots vs. Navy/Marine Corps pilots. Most AirForce pilots, after watching numerous aircraft carrier operations on KZbin, have admitted through their own comments that carrier pilots are the top dogs in military aviation. I am not trying to be partial but simply stating the facts. I highly respect all branches of the military, but Naval Aviation is unique. It is a floating airport that is constantly moving around the world to take on any threat at a moments notice. That is a fact. No more talk.

Everybody knows the Viper, especially the Block 70/72 variant is a better dogfighter than the Hornet. I concede what you're saying about flying carrier based aircraft, but no, the Hornet is not going to "fly circles around the F-16".

I was thinking about the Super Tucano back in June of last year, when folks were talking about F-16. My remaining question is whether the cheap air-to-air missiles that thing can carry could be a threat to cruise missiles

@9:15 .. That screen in the cockpit. Is it going bonkers as a result of the camera filming it? Like when old school VHS cameras filmed computer screens and you'd see lines on the computer..... Is it simply a camera artifact or is this done on purpose to prevent the screen data from being filmed? 🤔

I am no fighter pilot but I sure love the lines and profile of the F-16. Also that jet must really slam you back into your seat as soon as you hit afterburner or make a turn. The F-16 is that F-1 Grand Prix racer of fighter jets. I used to say the same thing about the Sepecat Jaguar.

Never flew military; not a pilot in real life (bucket list) I fell in love with the Viper on first sight. But once I made my decision to join the USMC and found out they flew the Hornet; I looked into that more and with configuration of stick/throttle; I like the Hornet better. But I also like the Viper with it's ability for the high G ability. It's a toss up for me...I also love the Tom Cat.

Do you need more engineers? Watching this is like watching Armstrong land on the moon, but your prototypes are beginning stages. I see so much protection for your family and your team. Please let me know if I can provide some assistance, bring the mix of avatar aircraft’s into your next versions. Your dreams are almost hitting the first stage, imagine everything that will come next. I am proud of all of you.. cheers

Can you clarify something you said there…. Did you say that if you were tasked with defeating an Eagle you would find it easier in a hornet? I’m a real noob when it comes to these things, but I thought prior to the F22 the eagle was the undisputed king at air superiority. Did I misunderstand what you said, or am I missing something about either the performances, or the difference between air superiority and dog fighting?? Thanks. Love the content.
