I was a Naval Aviator and a fighter pilot in the Marine Corps. I did a lot of other things to, all Marine Aviators are also infantrymen. I'm an old man now, nearly 80. But I love my memories of being a fighter pilot. Those were wonderful days and I can see the clouds as they slipped by even today. Night landings in terrible weather and dropping the hook to take the gear! Drama and I did it all alone. No bands except for those in my head, but I knew I was a hero even then. Exciting!

And the number one thing that ties everything you said togther mate is.......MONEY !!! Money is everything, if you have it life is easy, when you dont..life sucks and its stressful and hard. None of the above works when you're broke, even worse when you're working a full-time job and your wife works a full time job and you're still broke....and you don't have credit cards, multiple expensive cars, holidays, toys etc etc....just household bills, rates, etc. There's also opportunity and location..you guys have more opportunities in the US than we do in Australia. Not a pilot but this action is what’s wrong with the military. The Marine Corp commandant was covering his azz in case another pilot ejected and a jet was lost for a similar electronics failure in the future.

If you can program or update a simulator to affect the avionics, could you do the same to a real aircraft’s avionics?

Could it be that it was on downwind, already low and slow, and it had a sudden complete engine failure. And then, realizing the plane would not make the 180 back to the runway, the pilot pulled the plane up to gain altitude and slow the plane down(to minimize the risk of it landing in a bad spot) before ejecting? Would explain why it was falling like a brick.

First thing I notice is the pilot is way lower than a jet that is falling with zero forward airspeed. If the plane was like that when the pilot ejected, it would have been lower than the pilot by the time their shute opened. Is it possible that the aircraft went straight up after the ejection then stalled and lost all forward momentum.

That's a major disadvantage for a stealth aircraft like the F-22 and F-35 to be forced to start visually! although one has to practice being in a disadvantaged state. To be fair, start the engagement 100 miles apart and then see how the Rafale's short wave X band radar can track or lock on to a very very low RCS stealth object!......it cannot unless the stealth F-22/F-35 allows it to get too close. So as for EO/IR acquisition most of the worlds F-35 current 360 degrees DAS is superior to Rafales forward looking only EO/IR, and most of the worlds F-35 are being upgraded to TR3/Block 4 thus it's Distributed Aperture System (DAS) is to be upgraded with a new replacement that is far superior to current F-35 current DAS and a generation ahead of Rafeles. Good luck creeping up on an F-35 from any direction you're gonna need it!
