FIX - self check is interrupted because gimbal hits the surface. Just raise the front legs slightly using 2 paper clips and double sided tape

My nano+ is constantly about 2 degree out on the horizon. It's not a deal breaker as I've got a processing preset set up but it's annoying

I would do a cold IMU calibration on a surface proven to be flat and level. Cold means run the IMU the first time you start it for the day before everything warms up too much. Then make sure you do a compass calibration with absolutely no metal objects nearby including watches and jewelry.. then ruin a gimbal calibration on the flat/level surface. good luck.

Same here. I've got my dxo software preset all configured to deal with it but I end up taking pictures with tilt crop in mind now. I sort of forgive it as the pics are so good.

Yep! Me too, brand new Evo nano out of the box. Did the update and the gimbal was going crazy?? It flies well enough with great footage, but it is all shaky and wonky!! I'm going to return for a refund, and I have no confidence in getting another after reading your comments! Looks like it's going to be a DJI!!

I have exactly the same problem with the gimbal...It seems that there is a design flaw somewhere...I will return mine for refund. It's a shame since the drone video quality is superb. But the gimbal flaw makes the drone useless.

1 dismount your sd card and save all your data before format the SD CARD 2 disinstall the application and reinstall 3 reset all your impostation 4 reset gimball and compass. I had the same problem with mine. Now It work like new. I hope the same for you.

Reached out to autel support and they said to sent it in for inspection. Something was wrong with the gimbal so the unit was replaced under warranty.

Sorry to see this. I know how frustrating this can be. Fortunately mine is working perfectly which is contradictory to my ongoing luck. You might delete the app then reinstall it. It has worked for me on other issues.

Thanks for the suggestion. It didn't help on this case but I appreciate it. I was able to chat with the support people so a solution may be in the works. It always sucks to have a brand new item need to be sent for repairs immediately. In this case I don't think it was defective as the gimbal cover was installed incorrectly at the factory which caused excess stress on the gimbal assembly for weeks. It is only the roll motor that is bad but that seems to cause a motor overload condition which kills power to the gimbal for 5 seconds before it tries to reset.

Hey thanks. Yes I saw this video but my issue seems to be unrelated to the gimbal dampeners that he is talking about. The range of motion of the gimbal on my (brand new) drone is limited. I have reinstalled the FW but this looks like a mechanical issue to me so waiting for Autel to approve the warranty claim. I remember when first unpacking the drone that the gimbal camera was pushed up and crocked behind the gimbal cover.. I didnt thing much of it but perhaps because of this the gimbal mechanism was damaged in shipping.

@@mmbodnar I hope it works out with Autel fixing the issue. With customer service from both DJI and Autel. It's just a matter of whom you speak with, or just happen to get lucky. They have answers for everything, but it usually doesn't fix the problem.

I see that you’re still able to access the app. Try to do a gimbal calibration, turn it off after, then do an IMU calibration. Maybe this will fix the issue. You can also try removing the battery for 15-20minutes and then reinserting it. This might force a reset.

Thanks for the suggestion. When I try to do the gimbal calibration nothing happens. Once I got it to start the calibration moves but the gimbal could not tilt to the left (when looking at the front of the drone) so it just kept tilting to the right over and over. The IMU calibration is fine though. I am starting to thing it is a hardware issue but i would have thought they check the drone at the factory for these basic functions.

When it bumps the table the gimbal isn't getting its cell endpoint on initialisation. Hold the drone in your hand away from the flat surface and let it initialise smoothly. Is the problem still apparent?

Thanks and I thought the same. When I start it up away from the table it does the same initialization motions and the result is the same as shown in the video. The gimbal looks slightly down and sits there.

Good question. I did not inspect the gimbal function before the update. The quick start guide said to install the updates after charging the batteries to that is what I did. My mistake and it is a good reason to record unboxings i guess.

Hello, sorry to see this but in some respects I’m pleased because it’s exactly the same problem with mine, I’m in the UK. Mine does the same at start up - the gimbal moves then it just won’t work at all, the only thing I can do which seems to help, is power down and replace the battery and usually after a couple of cycles of battery replacements, the gimbal decides to work, at which point I’ve lost interest in flying! I’ve had this problem since I got it and on all firmware versions and like yourself, I have tried numerous different ways of approaching with no real solution I emailed Autel (EU) as soon as I got it, I’ve chased three times, and they said their engineers are working on it!
