Is there any exercises for internal hip rotation in the 4-8 week recovery from total hip replacement, anterior approach?

Thank you for this. In England 🇬🇧 had lateral hip replacement Day 11. Given exercises to do from day 1. Saw another video on you tube that said do not straighten and lift the operated leg for at least 2 weeks so I dropped those excercises bit continued the others. My operated side had previously dropped causing me to go on lifted foot all the time to level up my pelvis and reduce pain. Post op I was level ! But from yesterday sadly its dropped again and I'm lopsided again 😢 was so sure it was cured .. I don't know what to do now #feelingblue

My surgeon wanted me in PT right away. I had surgery on a Wednesday and was in PT on Monday. I went in on a walker and PT said get rid of the walker.

I am 57 year old golfer who had total hip replacement on May 5th, 2024 - It was anterior approach - out patient - and I was walking day of surgery - I was back on the golf course in 17 days. Yes, you read the correctly. Incidentally, before surgery I was a 7 handicap, and today I am 4. If you have hip pain, I can't recommend this procedure more. As long as you do your PT you will be good to go, and PAIN FREE in no time.

Am 8 weeks out from total left hip replacment. Walked with a walker for about 8 to 9 years very slowly not putting any weight on my left leg as the hip deterioated. I learned that I have a very high pain tolerance so had almost no pain during that time so I never realized how bad my hip had gotten. After the surgery i had no pain and the nurses couldn't understand why. First day I got very dizzy and nauseous when standing to use a walker about 4 hours after surgery. I forgot that I recover from ahenstatic very slowly. Decided that I still had a lot of ahenstatic in my system because my surgeon used only ahenstatic for my surgery. Later in the evening I had no priblem when getting ready for sleeping since my surgeon wanted me to stay overnight for observation. Had no priblem using my operated leg the first day in the hospital. A week later it became a dead weight and I could only use it to walk and had to use a foot lifter to get in and out of. bed. That lasted about a week but the Podcasts I had read said that would happen. I got lazy and kept using a foot lifter until at 6 weeks I was scokded by one of my therapists that usig it. She said that it did not help to stregthen my leg muscles. I quit using one and in about 4 days noticed a big difference. I can lift my operated leg easier anď am walking much better. At home I try to walk without a walker or cane for a few steps when I have counters or door knobs to hold in case I need support . I am till usung a walker since my operated leg was an inch and hald shorter and without a walker my right hip still notices the the difference. I do use a cane when going into stores, but park as close in a handucapoed spot as I can. In a store I use a shopping cart or an electric cart to get around and take that back to my car to load my shopping itemd. Then I usually take the cart back into the store and walk back to my car using my cane. If I am with someone they will bring the aid and take it back so I do not need to walk with my cane. I used a cane since about 2006 and switched to a rolator walker about 2015 so I am experienced using both. Told my therapists that and they did not know. My exercises changed a bit after that and I use my cane at therapy every time. I took my rollator to my 8 week check up because the nurses called my a day after I got home from the hosputal to insist I not use a rollator but the small hard to push 2 wheel walker. I did what I wanted at home but did take a 2 wheel walker to therapy because it fit into my daughter's car better than the larger rollator. Since I now drive myself to my therapy I plan on taking my rollator in next time. I have been taking the 2 wheel.walker but noticed that I lean in it too much since it is hard to push. May not have said all I wanted or rambled but tried to cover all I wanted to share.

I’m 19 days post right total hip replacement op. (Posterior) in Melbourne 🇦🇺. Common approach here is up walking within 12hrs, walking frame and walking and basic physio exercises within 48hrs. I went to live-in physio straight from hospital for seven nights where a whole range of supervised exercises were done twice a day. I was walking with one crutch from day 12 post op. Quite a different approach.

Hi doctor. I had a disc replacement a year ago on C5-C6 but my surgeron was supposed to do both C5-C6 & C4-C5. Why they didnt do both, i dont know but now they want to do C5-C4 disc replacement on C5-C4 disc and ACDF at the same time. Is that possible to do both? Please let me know your thoughts

Everyone is different but it really depends on being proactive and exercising before surgery. Do hip thrusters with weight to activate your glutes, use bands for abductor and adductor exercises. Squats, leg extensions and leg curls. Push through the pain, you’re not going to make your hip joint worse. Second hip and no meds this time. Anterior hip replacement and felt like someone gave me a punch in the thigh. First day I was at PT with a walker and some light range of motion exercises. 48 hrs later, back at PT with a cane and doing ball leg curls and 2 sets of 20 table squats. Bottom line protocols should be a baseline but differentiate depending on your muscle strength, flexibity, and pain tolerance. As I write this 1O days post-op, 30 minutes on Peloton, and various leg exercises at the gym. Treadmill 6 degree incline, decent walking speed. Bottom line research various literature, and rehab exercises. Go slow on all movements, work on balance and core, and be aware of your body.

OK, I get it. You are on top of your game as a specialist doctor. But being obese and eating pizza to boot, come on? why do you think people develop situations that warrant hip replacements. (By the way, save me a slice bro!)

I had both hips replaced in 2021, they are working great. I had a question that I could not find an answer to. I know they say not to use titanium in tooth fittings as they act like an antenna and can increase EMF, and 5G, how would having Titanium hips affect the body? Would it do the same as having it in the mouth and act like an antenna?
