Honestly, Astro Bot just scares me. The idea of Mario going to die and disappear because of it just freaks me out. Competition is not good as many people say, because competition only means "success or failure, life or death", so if Astro Bot gets more popularity, Mario is destined to completely disappear, and I really hate that...

Mario is more popular than ever, I wouldn’t worry too much

PC Players have had Force Feedback since like...... Forever. It's not like Keyboard and Mouse is nor has always been the ONLY way to play PC games. The Microsoft Sidewinder came out in like 1997 and has Force Feed Back

When video games first came into my life, it was through the mascot platformers. That genre has been THE definitive game type for all the years the medium has been with me, and Astro clearly shows that, no matter how old it gets, it's a format that can endear and impress just as much now as it did back then :)

I just don’t think Astro bot deserves it. It’s charming sure but at the ends of the day, it’s just a generic platformer that didn’t need a full game. I like astros playroom because of how short it is. I like long games but when it’s such a generic thing like Astro Bot, it’s just not fun.

This game is probably 3-5 years out. The voice actor Noshir Dalal is doing the main characters' voice. He also did Charles Smith in Red Dead 2 and lots more. He is actually quite good.

This game MOST DEFINITELY earned that title just by being fun & welcoming. “Like a… nice grandma,” as Caddicarus would say. The amount of fun I’ve had, and it being 85%-90% joy, 10% rage & 100% all-fresh never-frozen nostalgia, made it one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. A trip down memory lane’s worth playing through when the future doesn’t look too bright. I have been on the hunt, just like the Good Hunter in Bloodborne, for the perfect videogame, and I finally found it!

Fun. It's because unlike almost all the other titles for GOTY it is fun for 95% of everyone that picks it up.... not just basement dwellers who spend an embarrassing amount of time gaming ( I am one of them ). That Chinese monkey game might be really fun for a large group of people but Astro is fun for a even larger audience and I'm getting tired of all the hate for this adorable bot especially from that specific group.

The Exodus short on "Secret Lair" has Mass Effect vibes all over it. The art style, the architecture, ship design, down to interior rooms and armor. Clear Ex Bioware devs are writers from Mass Effect are part of this. I cant wait!

as someone who has finished metaphor and astrobot (and ff7 rebirth), I think that astrobot and metaphor were the two I wanted to win the most but for pretty different reasons, its lowkey cool that games can be perfect in such different ways and I really appreciate your take on not stating judgements on games if you havent played them. after watching this im even happier astrobot won tho and i just downloaded loccorocco :)
@jukesy19923 күн бұрын
This is a brilliant video, thank you so much. I'm starting to wonder if people really know what they want. Astro Bot wins game of the year, and there's a lot saying "oh it's a kid's game", "oh it's a Nintendo ripoff", "oh Wookong sould better" Wookong's yet another dark game that's fairly gritty, it is still, great it has cool sounds and great music. I also saw people say FF7 Rebirth is filed with padding. Naughty Dog announces a game that doesn't seem super dark or gritty, and immediately people are like "oh this is woke". What, do, people, want, then? They get a different kind of game of the year, they seem to cry foul. They get something not as dark, they yell woke. It's absolutely mind boggling, and to be honest, really, really sad to see, and I am starting to be very thankful for content creators like you who seem to actually get it.

I would love a video about God of War Ragnarok. I don‘t know what your reasons are for not liking it but i really feel like it needed three games to tell the story instead of just two. They layed a perfect and i mean perfect foundation with the first one. I was so excited for the things that would come but in the end it wasn‘t much. I always expected Ragnarok to be this epic, long and draining war between gods. I expected the world to shake, sacrifices to be made and a lot of pain to be caused. Then it came and it was over just like that. A little fight in a little village. Apropos fight: no boss fight in GoW Ragnarok was better than the stranger in the first one. It just felt like they stopped innovating. Ragnarok was just more of the same. And about Astrobot: It is such a fun game. But one criticism i have is the design of the enemies. A lot of them felt too generic for me and could have been in plenty other games. Astrobot lacks a little bit of DNA in that regard for me.

Astrobot is a really special game, im a souls like and roguelite gamer most of the time but Astrobot just blew me away and I’ve played it so much. Makes me feel like a kid again, it’s an absolute toybox and I show it to everybody that comes over lol This is an expertly articulated think piece, I’m subbed. Great video 🔥 Edit. Had no clue this was Jon Denton I should’ve recognized the voice but dude I low low low key prefer your gaming content to the reaction content 😂 both are great, for the record, but the versatility is much appreciated lol

@RedLithic3 күн бұрын
I mean, it's like Mass Effect ate some Halo/Destiny and mutated. Which is roughly what a couple chunks of the studio happens to be, considering Certain Affinity is ex-bungie, from the good games, as well as them doing a lot of multiplayer map DLC and porting for the Halo games, then multiplayer for several other games, which makes sense since the head guy there is one of the main guys for Halo 2 multiplayer.
@zerafians81452 күн бұрын
Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3 (minus original ending) they are fantastic games and its a wonderful franchise. We can only hope this game can recreate the Badassery that was the ORIGINAL ME: Trilogy. Andromeda though...nah, that can just go away. A writer from the original ME is a big part of this game and the team is packed full of past Bioware devs from the ME franchise. If a video game could spawn a baby, this would be Mass Effects baby.

For anyone that played the original FF7 on the PS1, FF7 Rebirth was a game that took you back to your childhood. Filling you with more delight and nostalgia than any game before it. Gameplay wise, the battle system is the best I've ever played in any jrpg ever. Combining exciting flashy action with strategy making each batte a nail biting encounter. That's why nothing even comes close for me as GOTY. I haven't played Astrobot yet so it can have GOTY, but FF7 Rebirth for me is one of my favorites of all time.
@xaultimateax4 күн бұрын
I never even played FF7 back then, and only ever played the OG for the first time in 2022, and Rebirth is one of the greatest of all time even without any nostalgia attached to it. I have never played an open world game (a subgenre I usually dislike) where I genuinely wished for more despite 100%ing each map clocking in at around 90 hours

0:38 JD if you have some free time, you should check out Metal Hellsinger. It has a non-VR version for PC, PS, and Xbox and its really good. It's a rhythm, fps game and it's similar to the Doom remake from 2016 just with rhythm mechanics added. As you keep a chain going of kills it adds layer of a Metal song to the bgm so you start out as just percussion and move one to the full song! It has a bunch of bands/artists doing the music for it too. Serj Tankian from SOAD being a example.

I respect your opinion and everyone else's, but I think I've just come to terms with the fact that 3D platformers don't scratch any of the itches I look for in a video game. I tried the Mario games when they won GoTY and now I tried Astro Bot and both times I felt like they were good, but I had 0 urge to keep playing and finish them

i have almost zero nostalgia for playstation history since i never had one growing up, but I still loved astro bot. it's so fun and is one of the few games where you really don't get the full experience unless you're actually holding the controller and playing it yourself.

@InvertYGaming4 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. Yes it’s 90 percent unscripted, just a few bullet points and the intro are written down. I don’t do fully scripted stuff very well; this is much more like how I write. Get it out on the page in a burst of energy then fine tune it w little in the edit 💪
@jukesy19923 күн бұрын
@@InvertYGaming This is brilliant, and is how I'm going to do things too if I ever do a channel, although at first I don't even know if it will be edited but it will definitely be more about bullet points rather than following outright scripts. Whilst it could perhaps be slightly rambly if I do it this way, I also think it'll be much more raw, as I'd literally like to do a channel talking about what I love, I don't want to do a production.
