This is part of a scripted quest, when it starts your existing reputation (e.g. reputation 7) is changed to -15. When you complete the prerequisite (destroying the station) your reputation switches back to its original value (so in that example it would instantly switch from -15 to 7) The problem is that even though it changes, some attacks are still underway, bullets that were sent before the switch will reach their target after etc. (this is only true if you're in system I think). Those bullets will give a rep loss and turn the involved ships hostiles again, which will draw allies from the surroundings, which will launch more attacks, which will drop more rep and turn more ships hostile etc, and so you end up going back to negative rep anyway :')

GPU: 3080Ti => definitely overkill, the game is not demanding at all graphics wise RAM: 64GB => again overkill, don't need that much CPU: i7-10700 => my main issue :/ it's clearly not horrible, but the game is really demanding on the CPU and it has to work full time and is slowing down quite a lot. I really wish I could upgrade to one of the X3D CPUs as it seems they are really good for this kind of games. Unfortunately it's pretty expensive and I would have to rebuild the whole computer from scratch ^^' But honestly I would recommend you give it a try, it will run on almost anything and it's such a great game it's worth it

​@@mikalichouUnfortunately my PC is a little more dated. Currently running an R7 3700x, 16GB of RAM and an Nvidia Titan Black. Are using lots of fighters pretty necessary in large battles or can you pull them off using just a few more large ships? Just thinking of ways to reduce the amount of work the CPU has to do...

The shield recharge delay on medium ships is like 0.5 seconds. You can dock one heavy fighter (or even 2) with split engines on the Gorgon, since the Gorgon will likely have a better travel speed than the fighter. The Gorgon has pretty decent speed/acceleration/handing... kinda handling like a heavy fighter itself. The placement of the turrets is fine -- all 4 can fire at a target in front of you. Cerberus handles better, but lacks speed/acceleration. Cobra is faster, but lacks handling and shields. Earlyish game you should be using teleport a lot instead of flying one ship anyways. I lockdown xenon gates earlyish game with 1 Gorgon and 2 shihs oos.

@@DaemonJax Yeah I have learned that about shield recharge delay too, the number shown on screen is seconds, not minutes... my bad on that front. Still my point stands, trying to dogfight in a medium ship against like 5 xenon is not fun but it's doable. The shield recharge delay might be short but the rate is never gonna be enough to out-sustain a few fighters. A fighter on the other hand can just not take damage for quite long time, and when it gets hit it's just one or two bullets, not a whole burst. That being said, I did try out cobra and I kinda liked it a bit but not too much.Then I tried Falx, I kinda liked it, and as time went on I modified it too and learned to love the thing. Now I have full purple mods on the thing (except turrets and 2 torpedo launchers which have slasher) and outside of station demolition, this thing can do pretty much everything in the game. It can even take on a swarm of S ships, as long as I do the boom and zoom, and don't try to dogfight.

Oh I'm counting on it too. Them and MIN are the first to go. But for now I need them to stop shooting long enough for me to build defense stations at every exit :)

The way it was set up was that each destroyer had a fleet of 20 fighters set to intercept, and there were two fleets of ~30 fighters each near the gate set to "protect position". I didn't notice at the time but I think what happened is that once the enemy fleet moved to the station those fighters just went "yep, did my job" and went back to the gate Thanks for the tip regarding towers, will try next time!

Yes it is! No idea why, there are plenty of better ships but I really like the size, the look, how it handles etc I use bolt repeaters as main weapons and beam turrets. I keep telling myself I'll update the turrets *some day* but they happen to do exactly 1% damage on Freelancer Katana shields, which is kinda nice. And then it's modded for as much speed as possible

Hey, really sorry for the super late reply Not sure I am qualified to do a proper tutorial, but here is what I do: - Use LottesCRT [CRTLottes.fx] - tweak the screen width / screen height / frame width / frame height values - - I use 720 for width and 405 for height, for both screen and frame - - higher values reduce the effect, lower values look more pixellated, this felt like a right balance ( 640/360 is pretty nice too) - - I try to keep values that have the same ratio as my screen (16:9 in this case). Not clear which to pick if playing a 4:3 game on a 16:9 screen. Plus a lot of the sprites are stretched by the widescreen patch anyway - - there are also hardScan/hardPix values that I usually tweak a bit over the default, but I honestly don't know what I'm doing, just following what looks good to me :D And that's it. Tbh just put LottesCRT and increase a bit the default width/height to your taste and you're good to go

It is automated, I just play stop every time because I like seeing my wallpapers
