NIce video. What mount is that euro skull sitting on and is the just standing or bolted to wall or table top?

Have removed many, many high torque barrels from old Mausers and others. I use baseball pitchers rosin and a plain paper business card in the barrel vise to grip the barrel.

Excellent rundown of the process. I am left hand dominant shooter, so it is tough to find rifles in the certain cartridges that I am interested in that also have a threaded barrel for either a muzzle brake or a future suppressor. I like the Tikka action and trigger so it would be a great platform to start with. 😎🦌🐻

we used an "iron" to remove glue in actions from stocks,, have you tried an iron as your heat source on the action? what did you use for this?

Yeah you shouldn’t use the rear entry wrench for first time removal

Lol. I am no gun Smith, but I work on cars. You need a breaker bar. Lol. Yup, and you did use it. Haha. Funny and entertaining!!!!

Did you say you greased the new barrel threads going in?? And Tikka had thread lock on?

anti-seize lube, available at NAPA

Wheeler action wrench instead of the SAC action wrench for taking the barrel off. For putting the barrel on, yes SAC wrench

I’ll be removing my tikka barrel soon and everything I’ve studied on this procedure was to use an external action wrench. Would you have done anything differently if you were to remove another tikka barrel?
@cody182005 Жыл бұрын
i only removed one but used the external wheeler wrench for a rem 700. just flipped the top piece over to match the flat top tikka receiver and torqued it down. i soaked the action in liquid wrench for a few days first. it came off with a couple good whacks with a small mall on the handle of the action wrench.

I did another a few months back and that one was even more stubborn I had to put relief cuts about 1/16 of an inch around the circumference of the barrel that lessens the force on the threads then it comes right off. An external wrench would likely be easier but the SAC worked.
