When you factor in travel times to the airport, check in times, baggage allowances, then travel fron Edinburgh airport into the city, the time difference isn't that great. Add either airport parking at Heathrow or transport to it not a great saving if you plan ahead and get an advanced train ticket and book your seat.

My parents used to fill my stockings with apples, oranges and nuts. Buying a bag of each of those things will now cost more than $20. 😵‍💫 1 bag of apples at my local coop = $7.99 1 bag of oranges = $5.99 1 bag of assorted nuts =$12.99 😵‍💫😵‍💫😭

Shiiiit i hang stockings only as decorations. Nothing in them. Its so rare ppl actually give me what i want for christmas and all i want are books from my wish list or a giftcard to a bookstore. I live in a ti y home and ppl always gift me random ass things and then i have to goodwill them because i have no room or use for the item.

avainti westcoast and transpenine express are notorious for charging you a window seat and not including the window🙃 best to book a seat mid carriage to try and avoid the sabotaged windows, the half and no windows are usually near toilets or carriage ends. hope this helps! its a beautiful view so worth it!

You're smiling, but legally, that's called a breach of contract. If you've paid for a window, then that's what you should receive. You guys are just too nice.

Yes!!!! Im not the only one! Stockings are full of little things that are interesting and fun, or chocolate treats, socks, and little games to play. The stocking isn't the big gift! I see concert tickets as stocking stuffers.... CONCERT TICKETS?!?! 😳😬

Re: Stockbridge. (Open up your Google Map and follow along) I recommend a day out that starts at the Gallery of Modern Art (aka Modern One; Modern Two is across the street). There is a fine cafe. Out back are stairs down to the Water of Leith. Turn left at the water and walk along that wee river to Dean Village, then carry on under the might Dean Bridge to Stockbridge - explore the streets both sides of the bridge (great indie shops, eats and charity shops), then get back on the river walk (stairs next to clock-towered Franco Manca pizza) and carry on a few minutes more to Glenogle Road, and its Stockbridge Colonies - a series of short streets lined with former workers cottages where residents on the lower level enter from one side and upper level residents from the other, thus enabling each to have front gardens...and never see their neighbour. From here the Royal Botanic Garden is only minutes away. You can also access Glenogle Road via St. Bernard's Row, to the left of Hector's (eats), in which case a look at Glenogle then return to Arboretum Avenue which leads to Arboretum Place and the West Gate of the Botanics (gift shop, eats). See the Queen Mother's Memorial Garden and other sights before exiting the East Gate. Turn right and head back up the hill via Huntly Street to Broughton Street (indie shops, eats) to St. James Crescent and the new mall...which is a couple minutes' walk from the train station. Another great neighbourhood similar to Stockbridge is Bruntsfield, which links to Morningside. Prior to moving to the outskirts of the city, JK Rowling lived at Bruntsfield's 4 Abbotsford Park. Getting here is a nice walk across the Meadows, the 80-plus acre park that divides the Old Town from the fabulous residential areas of Marchmont, Sciennes, Greenhill, the Grange...and Bruntsfield and Morningside. A lot to take in here, but if you have a map it makes immediate sense. Cheers!
