Having grown up in Alabama with a daily dose of James Spann, you can believe me when I say it's been a long time since I've had local, high quality weather discussion videos. I enjoyed getting the chance to dive back into some of these special maps and charts. I've always loved tracking weather records like rainfall and temperature streaks. I appreciate that you highlighted the humidity records! The other commenters are right -- you bring a great blend of being a down-to-earth host while maintaining professional command of the show's components. What a great start to a great series! Here's to an exciting summer.

Excellent work. I can't believe this was a first episode. You are a natural host. Hope you find the time to keep this up, and please bring back Daniel. He reminds me of talking to a farmer that knows so much about the science of agriculture, but can talk to you about all the complexities in a smooth non portentous way. We don't get graced with experts like that much anymore. Thank you for the content and looking out for our safety & economic interests with your warnings and forecasts.

Very educational breakdown and well produced episode! I would be interested to know how/why the 5/28 storm seemed to hit the area earlier than expected, but you presented great information on the radar and warning process for that storm. This was very well done and I look forward to future episodes! Thank you for keeping us well informed.

Great stuff Matt! Especially the hodograph breakdown, and also explaining the preference for the MLCIN parameter. Cannot wait for the next one. If appropriate in a later episode - one thing I don't have an amateur handle on is the large scale subsidence after a large storm complex passes through (and recovery time) vs cap induced subsidence. Is the former what you mean when I read in a forecast discussion stating the atmosphere has been turned/worked over (cooler more stable air aside)?

Just recovered a Nebraska launched Radiosonde. To track and recover these Sonde's (good for the environment) can be as fun as the launch.

This stuff is so neat. The radiosonde hardware is really interesting, I learned here they are also transmitting GPS data which is even neater. Bigger then I imagined them to be as well.

I didn't think we would see enough ice to get power outages?! That's scary considering how cold it will be! Can you say how high the chance is of power going out??
@NWSFortWorth3 жыл бұрын
There's is a chance, but we don't know exactly where will be higher or lower. The important thing is to be prepared just in case.

Here in Waxahachie we had the power go out for 10 sec - 2 min about 15 different times Thursday night and early this morning it happened again. Ice on lines can cause it to go down. Chopped a bunch of fire wood this afternoon so if it happens we just light the fire place.

Hydrogen or Helium?
@andrewstollmeyer433 жыл бұрын
Hydrogen. It is almost as lite as helium, and helium is very expensive in comparison. For amateur launches we use helium, but when you launch everyday it is better to use hydrogen (even if it is super explosive).
@HaykMartirosyan3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewstollmeyer43 Agree! Thanks for replying! We're facing the same, paying too much for helium, and planning to move to hydrogen. As you said even if it is explosive...

It all falls back down with the radiosonde if you hadn't noticed it all tied together. Simply paying attention to the details of the video would have resulted in your lack of leaving such a presumptuous, snarky comment. Go hug a tree you narrow minded fool.
