Beautiful - I’ve got one of these, bought it in 2003, you got yourself an absolute bargain for £200, I paid £600 back then for mine. For me it’s THE BEST guitar I’ve ever had. The only thing I’ve changed is the nut because I thought the wood just looked a bit cheap.

I think you shouldn't buy a _condensor_ microphone and blame it for requiring 48 V phantom power. Yes, there are certain microphones that can run at less than 48 V, but 48 V is the standard. I didn't even know there are microphone interfaces that do not provide phantom power at all.
@wowdan11 ай бұрын
I am not blaming it for needing. I am merely asking people to be mindful that if their interface doesnt provide 48v the mic wont work and they need a different mic or a different interface. Always read all the specs and requirements of any equipment you going to buy is the best advice i was ever given

Overall good review and thank you for it! Only remark would be is: this is not how you test or setup an strat type tremolo. No matter how bad they might be, most of them can be adjusted to stay in tune but It is not just plug and play system. Not sure can I post a links here but just search for "how to set up floating bridge on strat" and plenty will emerge. It does require adjusting the strings at the back as well and it wasn't something I could have figured on my own without instructions. After that, of course if built material is truly bad things can continue to bend and break so I can't tell whether would this bridge stand the test of time, just it is probably not as bad as presented.

Totally agree. I have seen some videos on the topic. I still feel it wouldn't be reliable thou.

@wowdan Жыл бұрын
I just reviewed and i did indeed have cut it there, sorry about that and thank you for the feed back, however keep in mind i am just a random guy talking about a guitar. My opinion is subjective and you can see many other videos that agree or disagree with my opinion. Your best option is always to try it for yourself as its only how u feel about the guitar that matters. What i can tell you is that the guitar is not bad at all and if you need a begginer guitar it gets the job done. If you want something more advanced and dont want to bother fixing some minor i would recommend looking into another one.

Dude, if you are testing a microphone people don't want to listen to all the garbage plucking away in the background. These cheap microphones are notorious for having a lot of hissing, humming and crackling in the background. They have poor quality components and bad earthing. Thanks for the upload.

I have been using this guitar for many years in my band. Its decent overall just as long as you block the trem and change the pickups since the stock ones aren't wax potted and are prone to squeeling. Tuning stability is pretty great on it too!

Depends mostly on you tbh. For that budget yes this is probably one of the best guitars (both phisically and visually) you can find plus you would buy it from thomann and they are super reliable and have a 30 days return policy if you are not happy.

Well, just Phantom Power is not enough for this Mic, the Behringer C1.. It needs _real 48V_ Phantom Power, otherwise the Sound-Level will be pretty low and the Mic will be noisy... I tested that with a Behringer Xenyx 502 with permanent Phantom Power ( but only about 14V ) ... And it did not really perfom well.. The Phantom Power of the Behringer Xenyx 502 cannot be switched off.. and it provides only about 14V of Phantom Power. Unfortunately, not everything, that calls itself Phantom Power, is also 48V... So I basically had to ad a Phantom Power Blocker ( ! ) and an external Phantom Power Supply with real 48V Phantom Power to make the Behringer C1 work (well)... I actually like the Sound of the Behringer C1 even though it is still a bit noisy (in my Opinion)... but it sounds really nice , I think! :D Some Mics, that need Phantom Power, will still work well with less than 48V, but at least from my Experience with the C1, the Behringer C1 is not such a Mic.. It really only works well, with real 48V of Phantom Power... I cannot stress that enough...
@wowdan2 жыл бұрын
well spotted, i totally missed that detail since all my equipment that has a phantom power supply is at 48v, so i didn´t really test with lower than that but thanks for letting me know

I would say as a begginer you dont need to go and buy the best amp and pedals. But yes quality of your amp and a few pedals ( or a pedal board) will improve your overall sound. But the most important thing is your tecnique.

My solution to tuning always messing up is double winding around the tuner. I see some guitars strings wrapped 1.5 time around. I usually measure agains the neck to have it be about 5 inches of ' slack'.

i have this guitar and after filing and some lubricant on the nut and the bridge it stays in tune perfectly... it's just a matter of a little work... the strings that come with those are always crap... i always change them directly... i have Ernie Balls Skinny Top Heavy Bottom's on it and it plays great even in dropped C. Should I change something more? Nut? Bridge?
@wowdan2 жыл бұрын
In theory yes it will hold the tune better then what it does when u buy it. But I would say if you pay someone to replace the pick ups just replace the tuners straight away. If u are doing it yourself just test it before you change the whole guitar.

4:45 Nothing is bad on the guitar, not even the tuners or the tremolo, it's just a matter of attitude. With me, the guitar no longer moves after using the tremolo, you just have to know how to do it. I also use it live in my band at performances.
@wowdan2 жыл бұрын
That's amazing. Maybe I got unlucky with mine but during my research I found many people complaining of the same. I wouldn't risk a live performance without a set up cuz by the end of each song I would have to retune just to have a clear conscience it wasn't going out of tune.
@floydhendrix43992 жыл бұрын
@@wowdan Hall, about the detuning, go and pull the strings up off the fretboard slightly, then tune. Actuate the vibro, pull the strings back up a bit, repeat the whole thing several times, then the detuning should be fixed. Was like that for me after the 5th to 6th round. In addition, you have the guitar, just like me, where the back of the neck is also black, the neck was still natural in the first series and as is always the case with the first series, the problems / errors were a little more, this one But Harley Benton improves problems with every series. We have the 3rd/4th Series. In addition, you can usually not give much to some reviews of harley Benton equipment, because many only know and rate it from hearsay but have never played such an HB, or are biased from the start or are simply HB haters. I have 5 guitars (1x Fender Stratocaster and 4x Harley Benton.) And for example, my Harley Benton EX84 Explorer (399€) is also not worse than the Gibson Explorer (about 1800€) of my band mate.

Hi Dan! Sure you may be right with the tuners but it's not allways the case. I own three HB guitars: 1. The Strat kit. Ok, one of the tuners was real crab. It was not straight and so had a real hard point per every turn what made exact tuning almost impossible but the other 5 did there job. Not worse then the tuners on my Epiphone LP Special II. Second: EX-84 Progressive Series. Tuners are quite good, nothing I can complain about. OK, it's a 189 (199 now) Euro guitar. And last: DC-580 Vintage Series. I think I paid 139 Euro, but had to look. Also, tuners are quite good. So, it may happen but HB guitars can be quite good in the lower price range too. So let's add another 40 Euro for some Klusons and we have a nice metal guitar for 149.

Because, if you put time into setting it up, you will have great guitar. Cheap guitars are always junk out of the box. I got myself a 90$ random brand strat and it player terribly, not stayed in tune for like 5 minutes, too high nut, crazy neck bow. And after simple setup and sanding nut slots, it plays wonderfully. Stays in tune for mounts easily, and after using a trem, its still holds the tune. The only thing I'm not quite satisfied with that guitar are pickups, but still they sound alright, but I would rather switch to better Alnico. Also, its important to note that thats my first time setting up an electric guitar, and I fucked up the nut once, but fixed it with baking soda and superglue, and still works like a charm and it costed me 0$ for setting up evertthing. So yeah, cheap guitars are great if you are not lazy and if you went to experiment. I would rather pay for cheap strat, and make it play good than go buy fender strat for 2000$...

I had been saving for my first guitar for over a year and I still didn't have enough money. I was lucky that a friend of mine found a junkie who was selling his almost-new guitar for a third of the price, cheaper than any new guitar on the market. But if a Harley Benton had been around at the time, I would have bought it without hesitation.

By my experience, it is better to buy a cheap guitar and replace the puckup with an advanced one. My Squier Strat sounds kick ass with Seymour Duncan SH-8B Invader pickup.
