dr.william magnus is the creator of the metal men (team name) with gold, tin, copper i think and either iron or lead. there's also platinum who is the only female robot of the metal men (and depending on the storyline she or the team as a whole believe/ are or at least only platinum are made from real people who died then remade into ai by him) he has a good story in the dc gods and monsters movie and both him and easy company with gi robot have pretty good episodes or minisodes before the main one in batman the brave and the bold.

This was easily one of my favorite episodes of the anthology. Canonically, Malcolm, the captain of team Thunder Crash, defeats Xan for the championship in Unreal Tournament (1999). Regarding Thunder Crash, they're a team comprised of military veterans who fought for the New Earth Government during the Corporation wars. It's ambiguous whether Thunder Crash were actually controlled by the NEG or simply mercenaries.

If you've ever seen one of the marvel hulk movies where he leaps to cover huge distances, it's basically that on a smaller scale. This is ignoring the jump packs as well.

The thing they were fighting at the end was a daemon prince, it was exploiting their fears and making them play out, except for the last marine at the end who feared nothing and just broke through it.
@ky.d19703 күн бұрын
That's interesting, so was the marine who died by having their skull crushed the very same one who did it earlier to that random guy? Acting out your fear and placing it on others or even in the realm of seeing such brutality acted out he ends up developing that fear.
@goopworld21843 күн бұрын
@@ky.d1970 The first marine who crushed the man's skull, was actually viewing himself without augmentations and armor (not the guy who crushed the cultists skull, that was the captain). He was likely afraid of his own physical weaknesses without these things so the daemon prince showed him how absolutely inferior he is without the Emporers blessings, at least that's the common consensus. A little speculation on my part, but I think he might also just be traumatized by killing civilians since he's in a segment of the galaxy being ravaged by gene stealer cults, we don't know the real answer.
@goopworld21846 күн бұрын
Funny you mention StarCraft, because starcraft was actually supposed to be a Warhammer game. Probably the biggest mistake games workshop ever made was not securing that deal. The guys in blue armor in StarCraft were supposed to be the Ultramarines, the Zerg were supposed to be tyranids and I think another race was supposed to be the Eldar which are the elves in Warhammer

So the paper reforming, the goop coming out of the ground, and their paper tags catching on fire is related to the "warp". In 40k, there is a parralel dimension that is based on psychic energy (rather than material physics like ours), called the warp. The warp allows individuals that have an ability to connect to it (called psykers) to essentially do magic, like stop time, invade people's minds, and teleport around. The guy in the coffin was a human psyker. The enemy at the end was a sorcerer, who is an enemy psyker that worships a chaos god called tzeench. The paper unburning, the goop coming up from the ground and the paper tags suddenly setting on fire are all signs that there is heavy use of sorcery and warp power in the area. Its one of the reasons they wear those paper tags on their armour, to act as a warning alarm to the marines to expect a fight against pyskers or daemons.

love the info especially about the paper being like a charm and how the perspective changed when the daemon came out.
@pub13 күн бұрын
@ky.d1970 oh fyi - that wasn't a daemon. The sorcerer at the end was a mutated human. Every one of those enemies on the planet were human. When you follow a chaos god, you can get given powers. But with those powers comes the God's "blessing", which mutates you physically.

You arent wrong about it being spartan like. Space marines are genetically engineered super soldiers, often taken pre-puberty to ensure better survival through the enhancement process. So it is a lot like the spartan program. But it takes the trope and dials it all the way up to 11 😂

There's an extra layer of lore to truly appreciate the ending. The mission briefing said Mortality Absolute which means it's a suicide mission and the controller said "Die well brothers" after launching the missile from the ship because they're basically dropping a nuke on their position and they're not expected to survive the blast. There is a lore quote that goes "Only in death does duty end" so when the sergeant says "Our duty is done. It's time to go," what he really means is it's time to die. THAT'S why Titus says "Not yet old man." And turns to fight his way out and not accept death. 40k has an expansive and rich history that's just waiting for you to dive in.

I figured Mortality Absolute was it being a suicide mission but for them to drop the bomb like that after pulling out a W. yikes. one question is, would the blast only destroy the central location or is it much bigger scale?
@Opacus023 күн бұрын
@@ky.d1970 Because the controller says "Die well brothers" we can assume the blast will be sizable. The thing about 40k is it could be anything from a small tactical nuke to a cyclonic torpedo that literally burns off the entire atmosphere of the planet or anything in between. We can likely rule out a cyclonic torpedo though because they're not committing exterminatus.

In Fairness to Vicki, she's from Gotham, or at least has lived there for years. Gotham cultivates cynics where Metropolis cultivates dreamers. Not saying EVERY Gothamite is a cold hearted cynic, but that town wasn't exactly a bastion of honesty and safety even BEFORE the supervillains. Gangsters, mobsters, pick pockets, and opportunistic thugs. Oh, and the corruption on the force. That's also a pretty consistent feature across continuities, at least before/outside of Jim Gordon's status as Commissioner. MIND YOU, going into "investigation" with an specific outcome you're looking for and a very specific takeaway prepared, that's bad journalism. Also bad science.
