Very well said, I remember back in 2008 when I first moved back in my hometown, I first got cable in my area with my mother had the choice of Cartoon Network or Boomerang, I chosen Boomerang because I loved classic cartoons from the Hannah Barbara era and it helped me fantasizing my life back then, until 2010 when I tend to slow down and went back to Nickelodeon for some time, and then I got into classic TV shows in your era. When mom first got rid of cable in June 2013, I was stuck with a rabbit ears in the living room until we moved out in 2014, and then got cable back in 2015, back then it was Time Warner Cable, until the rebrand to Spectrum. I had it in my bedroom for many years until March 2023, when I bid adieu to Spectrum cable TV for the final time. Many reasons, there was nothing good on cable TV anymore, and it's a relic of the past. Many of those channels like Boomerang, Cartoon Network, MTV, CNN, and VH1 are dead, and most of them went to streaming. Now I had an expensive antenna that could pick up 59 channels, and it's been helping me since my breakup from cable, never had to spend a dime on a cable bill ever since. MeTV Toons just recently picked up in the Buffalo area now, and I can relive my childhood memories, with some shows I remember, and some I never heard of. Now I am 24 years old, and I am living a wonderful life without cable, never go back to it, or heard from them again.

At 18:35 on one Fiero I had with a hole and worn area in the carpet from the heel of my foot on the Throttle Pedal, I got some ribbed rubber liner (like you might use as a liner in a tool chest) - its fairly common - Home depot had it. I went to Jo Ann Fabric (a good resource for interior repairs) and got a snap fastener kit. Four snaps hold the rubber liner to the carpet. It wasn't factory but looked factory at a causual glance. It looked great. When the rubber wore out or got "punky", I cut a new piece, added four snaps, and snapped it in place. When I got my new GT floor mats, I put a rubber liner on the driver mat near the pedal area. It has kept my mats pristine, and you can unsnap the rubber liners for a show if you like.

At 17:51 JoAnn Fabrics stores sell the Grey Headliner Material (original texture color with foam backing) off the roll. Most stores have it in stock. Pull 1.5 yards off the roll and you have more than enough to re-line your headliner back to factory original look. It was about $30. And another $12 for 3M automotive spray adhesive. Dont press hard, you will put dents in the foam... keep lightly stretching and smoothing until it grabs, I got extra to practice on curved surfaces... I recommend that.

If you have a bad EGR Solenoid, DO NOT THOW IT AWAY. Get me and I might be able to rebuild it for you. On mine the coil corroded open in about 40 places... totally destoryed. Water got in through that big air filter on it and around where the air filter is pressed on. I rewound the coil and sealed ALL seams with liquid electrical tape to make it totally water tight. It works perfectly, I only cost me $30 for the magnet wire for the coil.

At 12:37, I cut off the belt hooks that always break off. Cut them flush, filled with 5 minute epoxy, sanded, primed ,and painted with Testors enamel model paint color matched. It looks like factory but without the hooks... belts still work smoothly and never an unsightly broken look. I am thinking about making after market parts that are not only low cost, but can be disassembled for rebuilding with low cost readily available parts. First: The EGR Solenoid that the Fiero store says they can't get anymore. It will have a coil you can remove and rewind, instead of the potted filter it will have a water tight cover you can open and replace the resistor/capactor, you can open the valve section easily and replace the spring/collar/disk, replaceable pins, and the vacuum switch will come out just as easily as it did on the existing Solenoid. My idea is not throw away something that was originally designed to be a throw away, but make it more durable, reusable, and disassemblable so that modern parts can be used to fix it for pennies on the dollar. Second: The TPS. Mine will use standard high life dust proof potentiometer that you can get online for a couple of dollars... the housing, pins, levers never really fail on the Fiero TPS, it's just the potentiometer inside wears out. Again, you can disassemble it and replace the potentiometer for about $10, the pins, or the lever as needed.

Bus #301 was retired in 1992. Not 1983 as it says on its sign. I know because my dad drove this bus out of Forest Glen garage. I attended Schurz HS in the late 80s. Bus 301 was used frequently on 56 Milwaukee school runs to Logan Square. My dad was driving 301 one afternoon when i got out of school. Got to ride 301 and and a free ride home that day! Lol! My dad drove the GMCs and Flxibles in the 70 and 80s out of North Ave and Forest Glen garages

No, it's a smaller replica, built in 1918 for the 25th Anniversary of the Columbian Exposition. The original was destroyed by fire after the fair.

When I was 13 years old, we got rid of cable, in favor of Free OTA Broadcast TV, and when we moved in to a new apartment a year later, things have gotten along, until May 2015 where we sadly got cable back. I had cable in my bedroom for eight years until I got rid of it completely, there were too much junk on cable that seems worse than human society. I am so glad I got an antenna back in my room after a long period of time not having an antenna to pick up free TV. I now had 59 channels on my antenna, now I can watch MeTV and stuff. I can live without cable, and I'm okay with it! I never go back. Joseph

Great video. I don't get out to the city much, but it's awesome to really check out these areas and see how they've not only implemented public transport in the city, but I also really enjoy the design choices of the wall art, the colors, etc. Great little write up as well in the description. :)

Wow! I didn't realize that the unused parts of the platform could be walked through. I always assumed that they would be blocked off. Do you have a video of walking through the similar platform of the Dearborn St. Subway (Blue Line)? If not, do you plan on doing one?

Interesting. I help with a large HO layout (and also an HOn3 layout) at the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum. Things do eventually wear out, but not too often as we run 6 hours per week. I was amused by the question about the 6000 series L cars. I grew up riding the even older 4000 series L cars. I also grew up seeing the old O scale Minton Cronkite "Museum & Santa Fe" layout - many times - that was removed to make way for the HO layout shown here. Visit the museum if you can. And be sure to sign up for the submarine tour. And the coal mine tour is an oldie but a goodie.

Can you please make a 2 minute video showing the sound of the outside dryer vent from your 1968 Sears Kenmore dryer? I would also like to see what it looks like as well.

Hey artistmac, my man, how are you doing? It's been a long time since the original "goodbye cable" video. Are you still cable free? I bet you are. Thst video is probably the first video on KZbin that started rhe "cord cutting" trend. Have you ever thought of making s follow up of the series? Maybe about the new hardware you got, streaming services you subscribed to etc Cheers!

I heard that express trains skip this station despite its tracks serving it due to low ridership, which is a characteristic shared with North Philadelphia station on SEPTA. Both are the only such express stations in their respective systems. In NYC however, all express trains stop at all express stations regardless of ridership.
