We saw exactly this outside our window this morning around 2am and wondered what the hell was going on......😅 Thanks to this video now we know!......These Engineers must feel like Superheroes when they take the trains in the day time and know what they did to keep it safe at night whilst we were all 😴😴🤣. Awesome 🥳😎🙌🏾

4 hours on track, but time in meetings, risk assessments, preparing equipment and man power and travelling to and from site. Still a full night's work when your body clocks playing with you.

Many many cancellations these days re Engineering works because they can not get enough people or contractors. The the next disaster the managers will be responsible with their high executive pay we are all paying for. I am a very experienced manager that has now left the industry for good . Network rail likes apprenticeships and new inexperienced people also it seems .

I concur, I went to Australia when I was 20, did 5 years on the railways over there worked up to leading hand and gained so much experience and knowledge. Came back to the UK and absolutely nobody wanted me, or offered help to sponsor me for a PTS. 4 years since I’ve been back and I’ve finally found a government funded course to get me on the UK rails. These kind of situations are why our country is such a mess!

To do such things you need to have a background in mechanical or in civil (transportation) engineering?

No not at all you just need a pts and other add ons depending where you want to work like your AC DCCR OLEC1 Or your third rail

Notice the 'rushes' are still in the negative format. These had to be processed onto another film to get the positive copy for transmission. Double the work......rush, rush, rush to get the still wet positive flying through the gate of the project! THEN some bright electronics "genius" realised if the electronics equipment had one extra valve amplifier it would turn the NEGATIVE signal into the POSITIVE signal ready for broadcasting. In a stroke, the original raw film could be used for transmission immediately. No need for a separate positive film to be made. Bingo! Film prosessing time reduced by 50%, costs reduced by 50% and oodles of cash save. Clever eh!
