Can we see some more driving videos on Yell. Please. In particular westsandwick and herra and efstigarth.
@DrivingShetland2 ай бұрын
Sure! I guess I never covered the Efstigarth road because Google Streetview didn’t, which can be a sign that it’s not accessible by normal car. But check out my Yell in 4K series from a while ago.

Going on a drive from the comforte of ones own armchair. For those trapped in secure care homes this would be one hell of a 'way out' for an hour or two. Just don't tell anyone where you are going and Keep it as a surprise when you get back. Hat of to you for filming the drive !

Beautiful! Even though it's overcast. I would like to ask you, assuming you know, the film location of the TV thriller Red Bones, in particular the home or croft of the murdered character who was an old woman called Mima. In the fiction she supposedly lived on Bressay, but the real film location of her croft by the sea I suspect was elsewhere on Shetland. It's a nice film, music, actors and all.
@DrivingShetland11 ай бұрын
I asked in a Shetland Facebook group (because I have no idea), and the best I got was that in the book it was set on Whalsay, but filmed on Bressay. It doesn’t get more specific than that, sorry!

Nice video that brings happy memories of my holiday in Bressay. But may I ask why silent audio, as opposed to leaving the car's own sound audible? The silence blocks my imagination.

@@DrivingShetland . Thanks, I watched your other video with explanation. True, you're right about other occasional sounds that are undesirable such as sneezing and coughing. A solution would be to plug an auxiliary microphone leading to another part of your car where the sneezing noise could hardly reach. Don't bother, keep doing as you do. Well done. Thanks, Luigi from Malta

Between ;'78 and '82 used to drive every day from Wethersta, just the other side of Brae to work at Sullom Voe, then under construction for Millers, then for Press. I was coming home one night about 10 in hard snow that had been down for weeks. The road was deserted and I was doing 55-60 as always. You just got used to it.... but It had thawed very slightly in the day and the road was like glass just before Brae but I hadn't noticed. The car started to slide....I corrected it...and more...but it just kept sliding until I ended up in the ditch on the right at about 1.50 in this vid. I couldn't lift it out and wasn't sure what I'd do. 2 minutes later a friend ( Walter) who was the Son in Law of Frankie Nicholson ( crofter and Plant hire owner) was driving past in his landrover. As was always the custom then-no one ever had to stick a thumb up for a lift...the next car along would stop- Walter stopped and then recognised me. He pulled a rope out of the back of his Lanny, pulled me out of the ditch and I was on my way again in 5 minutes. Great days ands I love to watch these vids. Thanks
