Don’t use these !!! They will break off and get stuck and they are a bitch to remove! Now you have a real fire hazard of an obstruction!

You made this job so easy for me on my wife’s Durango. Thanks for such a great vid! Wish all mechanics explained as good as you did! I did mine then went back and checked all the hose after I seen what u found so I had to take the engine cover off twice haha. Didn’t find any cracks. Hoping changing this part works if not my mechanic said try changing leak detector pump next.

Thanks, very helpful, although I snapped the one bolt that caused no end of fussing! I finally drilled out around the left over stud and managed to bash out the old Altinator. I cut off the bolt leaving an one eight of it to "key" in the hole but so the new altinator would just go on! It worked out and with the main through bolt tight and braket secured, it can't move! All ended well! AllthebestRoy

I figured I’d leave a post repair comment: the serpentine tool is the only way to go if you don’t want to tear the liner off and lay on the ground (if you don’t have a hoist or lift). Once I had that, it was only 10 minutes of work and I was back in action. I’m an independent contractor so my vehicles are my income, period, and I was without either of them for almost 2 weeks.

I ground off the tip of the square socket and that slipped in with a pipe on the handle. The speing ball was still in tact, so therefore, the wrench will still be useful. AllthebestRoy

In my case, it was a loud racket, the battery light coming on and off, and finally getting stranded twice when the van just randomly died. Also, I just had the battery replaced not even two months ago.

Purge valve was probably ok. The cracked hose was probably the cause of the P0456.

Oh man; I’m sorry it’s taking a while. Thinking back, it did take me a while to figure out that I had to push in the gray button WHILE pulling out the T connection. Which was a pain, I used a flat head to do it. And while pushing the button I wiggles it out as it was dusty and stuck. I see it’s been a few hours since you commented, hope you’ve gotten it. Maybe try some wd40 so it slides out easier.

Great job!!! After using the brush you should use a blower to blow the left over lint out. There appeared to be some lint at the exhaust pipe end on the roof.

Awesome! Had I known my extended warranty wasn't going to cover the evap purge canister and hose, I would have changed it myself! Dealer charged me $260 for the diagnostic alone! I assume these parts fail often as I have a 2018 Durango with only 24,000 miles on it.

I think this is a little easier because the alternator is up on top where in the 2011 and 2023 they made it so you need mechanic because its below the a/c unit

That sucks; I always appreciate a car that has easy access to certain components and the home mechanic can do it themselves. I took auto mechanics in high school and learned a few things, but recently I’ve had to learn how to do some of my own work because of lack of money and making a decision to handle things without help from family.
